Yeah the numbers are strange..

Why?

We don't know the aircraft attitude when they went for a swim.

We don't know anything yet except "if they had just turned off all the automatic stuff" (paraphrased).

Being an an aircraft mechanic it never ceases to amaze me how the media really has no clue WRT aviation. Then you get all the old pilot "experts" who flew a DC-3 back in the day giving "clues".

We always get a few laughs watching the reports.

It's all speculation until the FDR & CVR are recovered.

And even then it's not a US flag carrier so my hunch is there is no way they will go to the lengths our government did with the recovery and subsequent hangar rebuild of TWA 800.

Best advice....Fly only US, British, French, German, or Aussie, JAL flag airlines, period.

The dimensions of the intact aircraft are only 200 or so feet long and wide. The wreckage would have to be a reasonably intact piece of the main airframe floating. :?: :?:

There is only one airframe that survived a water landing that I am aware of, that won't happen again in a hundred years I bet..

The pics were taken days ago but with the thousands of spy satellite pics to go through it probably took an analyst a few days of study to spot the possible wreckage.

Then the Chinese had to blur up the pics before releasing them so it wouldn't give away their tech capabilities with respect to satellite imagery. The blurred pics would have been reviewed a few times to make sure they were of poor enough quality to release. :verycool:

Now I'm reading the largest piece is 79 feet long. Previously it was reported as 79 meters. That makes more sense.

On a serious note this makes sense, we will find out soon..

in addition to the blurring of the image they would have adjusted the angle of the pic so that anyone examining their photo could not reverse engineer that data to determine the orbit of the satellite.

I don't think the orbit could be kept secret..

ooooooooh yes it can!! :verycool:

i should correct that to say what was thought to be the orbit of a small piece of space junk may turn out to be something completely different!
