The maintenance man who took care of it retired . They ran it one season after and got sick of dealing with the ashes, replaced it with a propane on demand unit and their heating bill has gone up . The hopper is auger fed from the bin so they didn't have to touch any coal. I still have to remove the bin which is built out of 3 and 1/2 inch thick pine planks. My 12 year old son and I pulled about 4 pickup truck loads of pea coal out before winter. I know a guy over here who runs three of these 500s plus a efm 1300 for his hydronic tomato operation.

the unit is a 1985 model eshland, one guy took care of it for years and it was used only one year after he retired, the base needs repair but the boiler is in great shape and the motors and fan had been changed out a few years before it was taken out of service

Good question Rob, It would be overkill for my place , brother in law has 4 story apartment he is heating with two oil boilers, may sell it anytime along the way, maybe tinker with it a bit, but in no hurry. Part of me wants to put a modine in the chapel next door blow some heat in there on Sunday.
