I've been running a Harman Mk ll for 5-6 years now. I am hooked on coal.
I'm thinking of upgrading to a DS Machine 1500 in the next year or two.
I have a couple questions.
1) Are there any Ct. Members heating with this stove?
We are into our 4 winter using the DS 1500
2) If so, would you ever purchase another?
Yes I would. It has been a solid burner and built like a tank.
3) Do you use a Baro or MPD?
I do not. I used one for the first 2 years and found the stove running better without one, even in windy conditions I had no issues. This obviously could result differenlty with your chimney and setup.
4) What kind of burn times do you get when it's 10- 20 degrees at night?
This has been the hardest winter on the stove so far. Used to heat a 2800 square ft home, I always shake down and reload every 12hrs. Even in the blistery -30 below the stove was running hard and still kept the 12 hour refill without any issues. So far have used about 3.5 tons this season.
5) Lastly, where did you purchase it? I figure I'll have to take a ride to go pick it up, as I don't notice any Ct. dealers.
Thanks in advance!
Our house is a single level ranch, about 2000 sq. Ft. Oil fired furnace, radiators.

I'm kind of leaning toward the DS Machine 1500. I think that the circulater pipes will help radiate way more heat than even the Hitzer 50-93. Which is my second choice!
I've found a place in New Jersey that sells both. I'll make a point of going there this summer, to check them out side by each.
I definitely want a stove with the hopper, for extended burns.
Anyone have any any Pro's or Con's of either stove?
Our Haman Mk ll has served well, but has to work to hard. Just under sized for this poorly insulated house.
Thanks again for your help!
And hey the honey do list is there year round!
