Decided to keep the Hitzer up at the 200* mark which keeps my stack at 100* and the draft between .02 and .05 depending on the breeze we might have at that moment. House has been a steady 69 to 71.5* depending on the outside temp. Even with the outside temps in the high 60s house has been fine. Tending on a 24 hour cycle beginning mid Sept till now has served me well. There were only 5 or 6 days in that time frame where it got up in the 70s that I had to use the windowstats to keep the house livable. :D

It has been turbulent here as well. I have been trying to err on the side of safety and wake up to a bit cooler house. This morning my manometer was right on 0 and that was with secondary air open 1/2 turn when it is normally only 1/4 turn. The draft setting was on .03 when I went to bed but the outdoor temps came up over night again. Now the temps are lower than they were over night...hop on the roller coaster ride, I think we have a hair pin turn coming up the first week in January.

The 50-93 has idled along through the recent warm weather. As long as I give it a good shakedown every morning it will hold a fire with an outside temp of 65° - 70°F. On days like today (60°+) I put a piece of foil over the baro to keep the draft in the .03-.06 range then pull it off late afternoon when the temps drop.

Both of my baros are working right now to keep my draft under .03. 34 degrees outside and snowing, but even with temps in the 60's my draft never drops below .02.

Personally I don't like to see the baro sitting at .02 on a warm day. Only takes a mild ash clog to slow the draft down enough for the fire to die out when it's just idling along. After a shakedown or reload I want to see the draft up around .05-.06 so the fire recovers quickly, then let it settle down to .03. I can get this easily with the foil as opposed to playing with the baro setting.

With temps dropping right down tonight & some snow coming in tomorrow night things will be back to Winter normal soon.
