I will I've been trying to grasp what I know about "whirl-a-gigs". It seems, that's how my uncle used to refer to the "hand held broadcast seeder". Upon Googling them, I recognize them, but don't know squat about them. Now, "yip-stcks" is another story.

I think what is being referred to is a device that is animated by the heat from the stove passing up through a series of "vanes" that turn and move other parts of the device.

my grandfathers neighbor used to make them.....he had a small one over his coal stove out in the garage.....used to fascinate all us kids
