I just spotted an interesting stove on the New Hampshire CL.
It looks like a base heater - no idea what make - maybe St. Nicholas??
He has the base.
It will need a new cylinder.
Price = $375.00
Call Brent 603-231-3621 in Chichester NH
I'm tapped out for the moment.

and the only thing missing from my life right now is 1000 hours spent transforming this rust bucket. If it is a Nick It only needs a new barrel, finial, foot rails and God knows what else. Most of the time you get what you pay for.

The stove looked interesting - just thought I'd pass it along. I didn't see any sign of a check damper lever, so I don't think it was a base heater.
Anyway - it's sold.
As to that stove being a waste of time - I picked up two Crawford BH's, each with many problems last October, for very short money. One's nearing completion at Emery's and one's going to be started in May. They're both very salvageable and not going to cost a fortune to be restored. Thankfully, there are very talented people around New England like Emery, Wilson(Skip) and Doug, who have the skill set and resources to bring these babies back, many times after 75-100 years of neglect. Unfortunately, as more people discover how effective base heaters are, the already limited supply of unrestored stoves will pretty much dry up.
It's been fun finding these gems, but I now have three base heaters, two circulators and a few assorted oaks, wood stoves and a kitchen range - that's enough.

There is NO CURE for Baseburneritits. You are only deluding yourself if you say otherwise. We are ADDICTS and our drug of choice is antique BB's. The addiction may wax and wane at times but like all forms of addiction it NEVER ever goes away. So I say we should EMBRACE this affliction and enjoy it! Besides with this disease we are bringing part of this GREAT NATION'S past back to life.chrisbuick wrote:It's been fun finding these gems, but I now have three base heaters, two circulators and a few assorted oaks, wood stoves and a kitchen range - that's enough.

My experiance has shown she will get over it two or three days. Now you may be on the couch or in the literal dog house during that time but they do get over it. With that I say EMBRACE your BB addiction and enjoy these functional works of art from yesteryear!chrisbuick wrote:You said it man - but, I promised the wife!!
