Fellas With Glenwood #6's ...What Size Coal Ya Burning?.

Since both nut and stove have worked well to get different cooking temps with the range, I'm going to add on another bin for stove coal next to the nut coal bin for when the #6 gets hooked up for next season.

Damn, do I have to build another bomb shelter, will satellite surveillance suspect t err or ist actions. My current coal bin can take a direct hit from a JDAM, should the next one be MOAB proof. So many questions and so few answers.

The Glenwood #6 controls very well with stove coal. I can back it down very low as well as burn it hot as well as everything in between. No problem. I've burned stove, nut and pea in it. Pea is bad. Nut is fine. Stove is excellent. I've also mixed all the above in various ratios. Pea just doesn't do well... I found no particular advantage to mixing them either. If you have to burn nut you'll simply have to change your air controls to compensate if you're used to burning stove, and vise versa.... I wouldn't put a baro on it as sometimes I want as much draft as I can possibly get, and still want more... But if you put one on, I'm sure it would work also... These stoves control well. Not much worry about nut or stove except if you start using stove, you are going to really like the responsiveness and ease of use....

Welp, I've got an order in for 6 tons of stove coal. I am waiting on a phone call to make sure it's been ordered but it's all coming together. I'll soon be going to fetch the stove....I'll have coal by July.....NIIIIIIIICE!!!!!

I hope to collect my Skip stove in about 2 weeks or so, perhaps we might meet up, who knows. Based on advice here I am thinking of running my Wings on stove too, or at least range coal. I still gotta bleed of two tons of terrible nut stuff from that Bulville NY "dealer". He claims to be getting out of the coal business as his coal is not selling

Getting bad coal has gotta be one of lifes lowest blows.

What about,. . try mixing some in with the stove coal when you don't need a high heat output, such as the shoulder months ?

That's about the timeline I am on. I haven't decided if I am going during the week or over the weekend...but it's happenin' soon!.

I would think that if a #6 Glenny likes the stove coal....the Wings would as well as by all indications they are just about identical stoves.

That's my only fear left....getting a season's worth of bad coal.

I've wondered about bad coal - I've gotten different batches that certainly burned differently, but nothing the Glenwood wouldn't handle with some finagling the controls... Knock on wood - I sure don't want to tempt fate...

Getting my Wings today but will not connect it. If this stove handles the nut cr ap I'm suffering through then that alone makes this stove worth it.
