Oh yeah, got her purring along. I think Spring is a few weeks behind this year. Leeks are late, leaves should be unfurling by now. I might need to run the furnace past my usual May 1st shut down. Long range forecast shows more below average temps than above.. We better get a hot summer!! :)

Yep 6640lbs to date since 10/22, 44 outside right now, cold and rain tomorrow, looks like another week. Plenty out back so supply is not an issue.

With my AnthraKing, I always run from mid Sept to mid May. Shoulder seasons can be very frustrating and that is where a coaltrol coupled to a powervent (always a draw available as long as the power is on) shines. Min=2 and max is about 18 right now. Not much coal being used but until mother nature can make up her mind, I am warm and cozy and the windowstats are closed. If you live in the NE get used to this c rap or move. So here in the Lower Hudson Valley, mid Sept to Nov 1 and Apr 1 to mid May and that is about a quarter of the year, we never know what is in store for us. Flexible systems save a ton of coal and you rarely have your brains boiled out or freeze waiting for the stove relight or (horror or horrors  ) use the HO system.

How much coal have I used, precisely!!!! Here is a the number down to the nearest ounce... a ch*tload of Homer buckets.

Yes, it is 36 degrees and pouring rain right now.
The Crawford is out, probably for the season, however; the Glenwood Base Heater is currently running at about 350. That is providing plenty of comfort for the house.
It's very easy to run a base heater during the shoulder months. They idle for days at 150-200 degrees. Use tiny amounts of coal when operating like this and require almost zero attention.
When more is required on a night like tonight. You open it up, top off with fresh coal, then shake and finish loading. It takes 10 minutes tops. Presto, you have heat.
It's that easy.

I'm still running the AA130 boiler. I'm usually shut down by now, but this Spring has been no warm body.

I'm not running but I sure wish I was. It's been chilly and wet around here. I'd light up again but I'm out of coal. Bummer.

6 months straight as of 4/28 - burned just 2 bags shy of 4 pallets as of that time. This is the longest I've ever burned, and the LEAST I've ever burned given that length of time.

Jim D. saved my ass yet again with a pallet of coal he left for me. I'd be running out right about now if not for that.

THANK YOU AGAIN Jimmy ol' buddy!!! RIP!

I run year round and it's days like this that I am damned glad I do. I should keep better track but my guess is about 4 ton since last November.

I'm a little over 4 ton for the year and its close to 6 months but I sure hope to burn up some crap wood soon, but it needs to warm a little to switch.

I was out for about 2 weeks but yesterday figured there was NO reason to be in a cold house. If the sun doesn't shine and with temps are about 60 as a high then house get cold, so I started burning again.
