The timer for my EFM recently became very loud. I hear it on the second floor, its really annoying. Can someone tell me if this is a sign its going to quit? Either way I would like to fix it, appears to be coming from the motor. Thanks Dan

It is not unusual for the motor to wear out, and on that route, they usually start making a humming/grinding type of noise. Probably a replacement is in order.
The iNTERMATIC 8865 series is one favorite as is the Tork ACT 30M. I have the Tork ACT 30M, and find it to be bulletproof and accurate. It is an easy 'rewire', unless you choose to get a new motor for the Old unit.
I know there is a thread on the forum from folks that know where to get a replacement motor for the Honeywell. I have had two brand new timers fail in the last few years, and the replacement motor was shipped overnight . With this warm weather I am guessing that you need a replacement ASAP, or listen to the timer until monday. Could you add some sort of insulation(towel, small pillow) to help out? There is no heat produced by the timer that would cause any dangerous situation, and perhaps that would help in the short term. I am looking up links to help right now.
