Finding paper

PostBy: wilder11354 On: Sun May 11, 2014 2:16 pm

finally got chance to shoot Ar. For now has military peep style sights. 50 Yards to see how far sights were off. First target 4 shoots of 5 hit ground in front of it (paper bottom 6" off ground). 5 groups and check & adjust, got it better, but i'm rusty on peep sight picture.

Second target took a little more time shooting, better, and close, third target was at 25 yds, just basic aim to hit paper and popping off rounds 1 sec or so. first 2 were factory loads 5.56 third was my reloads, as exspected higher, till bottom holes for rapid succesion.

Think i am going to look for a diffeent sight set up, because of me.

Overall, shot pretty good, no issues with anything on firearm itself.

Some times a different target will work with different sights. I am talking about a dot or circle target instead of a square or diamond. There's a website out there with a lot of good free targets you can print on your printer. They do make some rather cheap red dot sights, you can get a cheap one and if you like it go for a better one down the road.

last time i use these style sights, all targets were sillouettes, with circles within it. So i'm looking at nikon P223 3-9 or 4-12x40 600 BDC with the matching AR mounts. http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/en/Nikon-Products/Riflescopes/8473/P-223-4-12x40-Matte-BDC-600-------------.html

That's a nice scope, looks great on that rifle. You can get it for under $200 appears. For that price, and it's a Nikon, i think you will be set.

I wouldn't get to crazy with trying precision accuracy with the AR15 the AR10s seem to do a little better. The one thing that does help with little cost is the Accu wedge http://www.amazon.com/Accu-Wedge-Buffer ... =accuwedge

Put your cheek on the same spot is helpful. Want to zero at 100 yds.

An AR15 with iron sights should be able to get on paper at 200 yds ... unless your eyes are old .. and a sight helps.

I got a 12 x 50 scope ... pew pew pew right on target. And it was a hundred dollar scope.

My AR in 7,62 I built over the winter needs to go out to the range. The mags are very tough to get all rds loaded ... I took one and modified the spring length.

It will be interesting to see if double feeds happen with the non-mod mags v. the modified ones.

A bore laser sighter is a good investment ...

Next build: AR10, 16" ... Armalite v. DPMS is my head scratching decision. I can get a complete upper for $600 new .. and I would build the lower from a 80%, either forged or billet.

Mucking around with cast AR15 80% lowers now....

And have you seen the AR-crossbow from PSE? http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/331200258962?lpid=82
Sweet. Gotta get one ... I have a recurve and compound .. never interested in a crossbow until I saw this.

Maybe a 308 bolt action AR15 ....

My next build. Something like this in a pistol. May be a good trunk gun. Maybe get a stamp and silencer. :)
