My first selfie was a disaster. I'll see if I can do better tomorrow.

So I broke down my old stove and removed it from the hearth and went to set the feetses of the Glenny and.......the hearth is uneven in the area of the new footprint.

What is a good shim material that will take the heat?. My old stove required just the tips of cedar shims to level it but the feet didn't get hot enough to ignite the cedar. Dunno if this stove will or not.

Dollar coins, half dollars, dimes etc if the circular shape will allow their use. Dimes are so thin its probably easier to level with them.

Dollar coins might be big enough.....ats one hell of an idear though.

It's hard to tell from the picture but I would need to stack them anywhere from 3/16" to 3/8". Maybe i'll just burn out some steel shims at work.

All I can say is wow. You have a nice placement for that beast of a stove. I can tell you'll have a big smile all winter long nestled by that monster. Congratulations. I think I want a number 8. :)

Thanks and I can't be happier. I thought the other stove was ok on the big hearth but this is PERFECT. Here is the old one for reference.

Those are home made bellows made by my dad back in the 70's.....but you made me go over there and see if the leather was all crusty. THEY STILL WORK!!!!!!!!!!. :) I haven't use them since I was a yout but it's good to see they can still move air.

Wilson voodoo polish magic. :)

I gotta be honest....i've seen plenty of 'black' painted stoves and they look great.....but I really like the coloring of the old school polish on bare metal.

BTW....with the No. 8 came a partial can of Blue Ribbon Grill & Stove Polish. Wilson said he bought a case of old stock back in the 70's and it was getting scarce. Welp, after some snoopin' on the intwerwebz I located an e-mail address to the company that made that product (yep, still in business). I sent them a note to see if they still produce an equivalent or if I can get the ingredients to make my own. I'll let yall know what they say.

Have you gotten any info on that stove polish. Just curious.
