Well lets just take some steel, make a tower from it and make it the highest object, so it's grounded even better lets attach cables to it that go to ground. Then act surprised when it gets struck by lightning.
The radio ham guy did have all sorts of protection but they never seemed to work for him. Perhaps he did not go to church on Sundays.Hopefully, he had some sort of circuit protection that just needs to be reconnected. I must confess I only thought that he would not be producing many KWH in a year based on our climate and how many millenia it wold take to ROI, but lightning? Well now I know better. Now it needs to be measured in eons. One thing I know, my taxes took a hit as stupid NYS gave a big grant I am sure.
