New California bill would let authorities temporarily remove guns in some cases..

On Wednesday, in response to the Isla Vista shootings, a new bill was introduced in the California legislature that would give families, neighbors, friends and law enforcement the ability to appeal to a judge to temporarily remove firearms while a court determines a person’s competency.

If it's a known fact the a mentally ill person that's showing criminal or violent tendencies & only temporary & best if he a family member if at all possible then it would be a smart move. Or they could wait as in this case, until a violent act has occurred. It's much akin to removing someone's drivers license that's become mentally or physically incompetent, it's a rather drastic measure for some & I know of one that just lost hers & she is devastated but it's for the best.

I'm not so sure, all our Vet's coming home are in this category, it's a slippery slope..

At least we could sleep knowing this would never be abused. Frogs in a pot comes to mind. Yes our returning vets may fall into this as well.

Very slippery. What if you tick off your neighbor and in retaliation (I.E. spite) your neighbor "sees something and says something" about your guns and his/her perception that it is his/her "gut feel" you are not in your right mind to possess them. Evil retaliatory "gut feelings" would end your right to own guns. Then you would turn the tides, etc..., etc..., and soon everyone would be without them.

This will be difficult for most to understand, but "subjective law" is the real culprit here. See my tagline.

Many of the returning Vets & such simply need specially equipped cars & things like that A friend of mine recently gave one to a injured police officer who will hopefully someday once again be able to walk & hopefully many others. When it comes to mental illness that's a whole new ballgame & it's not all that easy to get someone committed as some may think & their should be penalties for any false accusations. And all of a sudden Isayre you have chosen to remove the word temporary & replace it with remove your right to own guns, perhaps there is a future for you on FOX.

What part of the Second Amendment do you not understand? Especially the part that says, "shall not be infringed."

Lets see now WS, "shall not be infringed" gee I would guess that if you break it down to just a few words we have been wrong all these many years when they disarm a criminal. As I implied should we wait for a criminal act or even an accidental one & not make any attempt to avoid it? Being of sound mind & body are just a few words as well.

Sam, what they are trying to do is declare people as criminals and act accordingly before the fact has been established. It is called pre-crime. It violates at least the 4th, 5th, and 6th amendments.

Your right if you exclude the probable cause part, I don't know where the double jeopardy would fit in & there would be no criminal charges but there again is it better to wait until after a crime? I would have to learn more about the proposed law. Are there no laws for the man that was just caught after having all the explosive materials or something to that effect, he hadn't yet committed a criminal act if you believe someone has the right to buying all the materials.

Would you agree to become a ward of the state if the state demanded it?

Yes, but instead of fattening us up before the slaughter they are thinning us down and wearing us down.
