Pictorial: Cast iron radiator sizing charts, btu output

These charts are self-explanatory. By viewing your radiators from the front, side, and bottom, you can determine the square footage of each radiator to determine the output of each radiator. Many types are shown. These are the best available copies.

At what temperature are you saying that the sq. ft. of radiation equals 150btu?

I'm guessing 212, but the man who gave me these is long retired and I don't know.

If you size them for at least 35 BTU's per Sq-Ft of floor space per room, you should be fine. Don't forget to add in hallways and closets and any other spaces that will not have radiators.

If the water is leaving the boiler at 180 degrees and returning to the boiler at 160 degrees, then on average it is passing through the radiators at 170 degrees.

Somewhere on the web there is another version of these charts, many pictures of different styles of radiators. With the steam , EFM 520, was rated for 520 sq ft steam, AA130 were rated at 540.
