Yes that's me. Yesterday while helping my boys renovate a small cottage, I shot a 3 1/4" framing nail in the palm of my hand. This was my nail gun that I've had for 30 plus years and used thousands of times. One second of carelessness and whamo! Hurt and still hurts like hell. When it happens your hand is instantly numb and of course you are also shot full of adrenilene. So I grabbed it and pulled it right out. I had a tetanus shot earlier this year. I don't think I hit any bones or at least just glanced off of them. Hand is very swollen today and can't close my fist. I've had ice on it off and on. Hopefully in a couple days mother nature will make it right.

OWWWWEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Get a tetanus booster quick!!!
It will not cause you problems if your
within the 7 year window.

I would be more worried about the adhesive on the nails!!
Call the nail manufacturer and check with them as soon as they
are open for business.

You have to be proactive even if the nails are in the plastic coils/bandoliers as some of the plastic could be in the wound OUCH!!!

Not as bad as using a hole saw attachment on a drill and drilling it into your chest.

OOOUUUCCCHHHHH! That dang cottage is getting some revenge on the old guys....broken arm on the FIL and now you shoot yourself in the hand. Is that place haunted?!?!?!?!?!

Those dang puncture wounds are the worst. The entry point heals over too quick and all the gunk gets stuck inside and cant drain out. My backwoods self healing wound therapy is to keep the entry point open for a couple days and squeeze out the bad stuff while pouring on the hydro-peroxide.

Can't you get tetanus shot from one of those walk in health clinics out there Fred?? No 4 hour ER wait with those, walk in and within an hour, depending on the line, you are done and a lot cheaper than the ER.

some nail gun stories......a buddy of mine was leaning off a ladder holding fascia board with one hand and nail gun in the other. nail went through the board and caught his hand and he was stuck. couldn't reach it with the nail gun hand & had to keep jerking the stuck hand back to get off it. nearly fell off the ladder. of course we laugh about it now.

Another time a guy was using a nail gun doing some framing and he had a nail ricochet off the board and hit a guy right in the front tooth knocking it out. Tooth got put back in but from then on whenever we work with them and somebody breaks out the air gun to start using it we call out....'guns out, nobody smile'

Ouch is right ! Yeeeoooww.

If your hand starts turning red and gets hot, you really should seriously think about seeing a doc.

I've stepped on a few nails doing construction work and even with a current Tetanus shot, there are other bad things that can get in there too.

Local liquor store owner died a few days after getting a cut on a finger while working in his garden. By the time he did something about it, the blood poisoning had gone too far.

That had to have hurt like hell. My *censored* does summersaults just thinking about it.

Tetanus is serious. A local farmer died from it several years ago now but it raised everyone’s awareness about keeping their vaccine up to date.

When my grandmother was living she would occasionally tell us a story of when she stepped in a nail in the barn floor that went through her foot. She bandaged it with a piece of bacon fat over the hole. She was pregnant at the time and showed the doctor several days later when he stopped by to check on her about the pregnancy. I never asked and she never said what the idea behind the bacon was but I speculate it had more to do with the salt than the pork.

Did you consider putting in some kind of ferrule or grommet and have a permanent hole in your hand like a lot of guys with the big holes in their ears? You could be a trend setter and start the next big thing.

Years ago on an ER visit I sat next to a guy that shot one into his knee.
He was still sitting there when we left. They were waiting for an orthopedic
surgeon to remove it. Nasty ass painful !
