...in the hospital after having a stroke on Monday night. Went downstairs and sat down to watch the news at 11 and slowly lost use of my right side. I tried to get up and from my chair and fell down. I wasn't scared or anything, just wondering what was going on. I'll check back in later.

Thanks guys. I'm doing a lot better and am even getting discharged from the rehab center that I've been at since Friday afternoon. I can walk well enough but am having a little trouble with my right arm. Of course I'm right handed so it's been a real experience. Tomorrow I get to go home and it will be great to sleep in my own bed again. I guess I have to stop living the good life and eat a little bit better and have to cut down on the .

Hang in there. Had one 25 years ago, and I was young then. being idle is the worst part. I haven't worked in 10 months now, been on disability, and it's driving me nuts!
Mike, glad your doing better, for everyone else, fyi , when having a stroke time is important, you need to get help within three hours Max, after that its bad news.. If you don't know the symptoms of a stroke look it up, also how to tell if someone else is having one, you could save a life..

One thing to remember with any type of rehab mike is that those in the medical field go through this everyday. Some days you may think you are well enough to start doing more or eating things they suggest not but this is your first time around. Think of it as a gift from God & your getting a second chance instead of having "the big one" right off. Listen & learn.

You received a gift, so I'd suggest you pay CLOSE attention to the lifestyle choices outlined for you. Some foods will be gone forever, less of all the things you have come to love, HOWEVER the meds and activities they advise will keep you around for a long time. Ramp up slowly to where you were, and if you are a smoker.....guess what......you aren't any more. The Big Dirt Nap is greatly overrated, and there are not ANY virgins where you were headed, so sit back, relax your lifestyle, and please share more about your journey. Just when you thought you had it made, something shows you that having a life is a task we all have to work to maintain. Good luck as you get back to normal, and remember how much better good health feels. We'll see you out walking, and exchange some Coal tidbits.....
