Maybe I should've posted this in flame suit but thought all should read it. Ordered 3 ton of Hudson Coal to see how good it'll do before filling bin. Delivery has arrived 2 hours ago, once load was dumped driver gave me the bill. To my surprised bill it said Newport Aggegate inc, I question this. Driver told me Hudson was bought out by Newport. wtf  Brain started working on overdrive, remembering newport sounded familiar I head to nepa. Sure as crap this was the garbage that so many bought because of price. Blood pressure took off like a rocket, fast stepping to keystoker. Empty out the full hopper to fill with what ever I just got.. Not a happy coal camper

At least now they are running the coal through a breaker. Who knows, it might burn great. Let us know.

Hey Rob, After doing some google map searches. Driver did tell me its right next to casey kassa. I'm hoping he's not pulling wool over my eyes because he is a friend of mine. I'll let everyone know how it burns.. $ 200 a ton...

If there's no rocks in it, it will be ok. The guy from newport was a scumbag lair, as when I had problems with the crap he was selling as coal, he lied to the attorney general saying I didn't come down for a sample, which I did. Then he said it I want to return it, to deliver it back to him. WTF is that? I just got a few ton earlier in the year from Hudson and it is ok, burns well with my timer set as low as it goes. Name change was Susquehanna anthracite. Easy enough to look up whom owns the company. If it's that fraudster, no more business from me or any of the people I know who burn coal, and it's a lot, when you work with a few thousand people word spreads fairly quick.

Mozz, I went and shoveled several spots in bin to look closer at coal. Actually it looks ok, didn't see any rock, did take coal pieces and broke apart to make sure it wasn't rock. Tried to search it but haven't found if husdon was bought out. Time will tell, change pan and clean off grates of ash, should be burning it now.

Maybe it's good coal but that's some shady dealings that took place not too long ago. It's one thing to advertise sub par coal and sell 2b stone. I'm sticking with what the local supplier has, has yet to let me down.

Update....... Looks like I'll be filling bin up with this coal. Keystoker is actually burning it good by idling and dwh needs.

I've been thinking of trying this "Hudson" this year. I've been using Casey the last few years and have liked it, but last years supply seemed to have a lot of ash.
Hopefully the Susquehanna is the mined combination is as they say.

Hudson has always had a great product so before blowing a gasket why don't you see how it burns. ;)

Yes it's only a few miles from the Casey's Laflin plant.

I don't see why the coal that they are selling wouldn't be really great. The problem with the newport ag wasn't that it was crappy coal, it was that the coal they had wasn't processed right. It was just raw coal that was ran thru a gravel crushing plant to size it, instead of being processed thru a Menzies cone or heavy media separator to get rid of the low quality coal and rock. It really burned much hotter than most, when it wasn't choked out by rocks. It made massive clinkers because the ash content wasn't consistent and enough to keep the fusing point in the right range. The coal that did burn was very hot and long burning. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that coal, mixed with with some other, and properly prepared, wouldn't be some great burning stuff. I for one, would look forward to getting some great product a couple hours closer to home. Can't wait to hear some more reviews. :)

my son has burned hudson's coal for the last years in his key stoke koker with no probs. there is a thread on here about a buy out of hudson to Susquehanna and supposedly the they were the major supplier to hudson, they claim quality has gone up. 3 weeks ago they were 175 a ton and jeddo was 160 for rice so went down to jeddo to give them a try.
