Good morning gents,
What have you seen in old boilers (for a home ) that you really liked, and wish was still around ?
Do you like the water tubes ? Fire tubes ? Plates ?
The old rounded jackets are nice. Big surface area for heat extraction is great, and a way to clean it easy too.

Any pics or comments ?

Thanks, Dave

American radiator company Ideal no. 7 one of those heated my grandma's/dads house for 67 years. It had a Winkler retrofit stoker installed under it at some point. Its long gone of I would put up a pic.

Fitzgibbons made very fine fire tube boilers.

Only saw a few water tube and never cared for them.

Prefer cast iron for longevity, especially for steam. Smith Mills a favorite. The old round pancake boilers for coal were very nice. The old boilers had nice big fire doors and easy access for cleaning. Another thing about the old cast iron boilers, is they came in sections so were easy to carry in and assemble, or for that matter to carry out too.

My dad's EFM has a tube boiler made by Fitzgibbons Boiler Co. The quality of the steel and workmanship is very impressive.
