I don't want to type the words..... end of summer.... but the calendar shows that August is about used up! So, come in, share a coffee , a thought, and celebrate this Labor day weekend with remembrance of all the hard work it took, and takes, to make this nation the best darn place on Earth. A slap on the back for all of us coal burners as we are willing to work a little extra to make our lives better. Hip, hip, hurray!

Breakfast will be French toast and sausage. Don't be shy, there's plenty of it. Good stuff, Mmmmmmm.

It seems this is family week. My sister was here from Arkansas for the week, Cousins up from CT for a few days, and my two girls are up from NY & Boston. At one point on Thursday there were 10 people here! It'll be a busy weekend for sure.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Hug your loved ones & to the future we go!

Mornin people:) Ahhh, I needed that 1st cup Freddy, kinda sluggish this AM. I bet that French toast & sausage will do the trick. I'll leave this jug of maple syrup for them that wants. 50* this AM compared to the low 40's yesterday. Sounds like you got a full house my friend. :D Best darn place on earth indeed--yeah, yeah, we got our problems, but look around the old globe--we just need to continue to work at keepin it that way. Enjoy the week-end all & be safe.

Mornin. Great breakfast choice as usual, Freddy.

It's family weekend on this end also. One reunion today, and another tomorrow. Busy weekend for sure.

I too hate to see the end of summer, but we will take whatever Mother Nature gives us and strive to make the best of it. I'm just glad I heat with coal.

Take care and be safe all

The start of my daughters educational journey starts Tuesday... :( Cant believe the time has come to watch her start kindergarten. The big sullivan county fair was this week, this is only time of the year my entire standard of giving a damn about who makes my food goes completely out the window. Nothing better than chompin down some funnel cake and a hot dog from folks who havent washed in months! Hell with it , Fair week they get a pass   '/; Anyway, ive had mid 40's past couple mornings now, the anticipation of my first boiler fire is drivin me nutz! Have a good weekend all.

Good Morning Everyone.

French toast is a favorite of mine, that'll get me going this morning and that maple syrup is a great topper!

I hope to get the roof framing done this weekend so I can pick up the metal this week. We'll see how much progress can be made, there are a few family members spending time here this weekend so I don't know how much time I will get to spend on the building.

Have a great weekend!

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for breakfast - French toast and maple syrup is my favorite.

We have an unbelievable August day in store - a gentle breeze and 85*. I don't have anything planned but am sure I'll find something to do.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, be careful on the lakes and woods. Lisa

Hello Everyone!

French toast and sausage, tops my list of favorite breakfast! Off to Saturaday work at the hospital. Lots to fix in that old building. Hard for me to understand how the hospital is having two floors refurbished when the old steam, hot water & chiller pipes and controls elsewhere in the building are 50-75 years old. Well, some are, some are not. This old hospital opened in 1920.

Bought a new chain saw. A little overkill but I wanted something that will last the rest of my days. It's a Husqvarna 543 xp. I was able to get it at $80 under list. I wanted something I wasn't always fixing. The old homeowner Poulan model not much of a good tool. I taught myself how to sharpen chain saw blades this week too. So easy!

Take care everybody!

Good morning fellas, French toast is good but you need to sprinkle some cinnamon on it  I hope all y'all been enjoying the summer? I know I have been. We've been camping our ass off this summer so things aren't that bad

Good Morning all, just a quick cup for me as today is the 60 mile yard/garage sale along Rt.7. We will hit part of it only, sounds like a lot but some sections the houses are about a half mile or better apart. Ever since my wife found a 1800s Swiss Music Box at a yard sale we stop at many but I still prefer estate sales & auctions where you can normally get a better price. The Hummingbirds have all but left, seems early as only a few straggler's are left we keep the feeders out. Hope everyone has a safe productive one & for those on the mend remember slow & easy.

Mornin all,
Ya, its been nice and cool in the mornings for the past week or so. But still getting into the 90's during the days. Can't wait for it to get cooler.
For the past month, my FIL has been replastering the exposed part of the house foundation, and making repairs as he moves along. He is 78, slow as molasses, can't hear or see good, but he sure can plaster a smoooooth finish.
My Hornet-zapping project is working out. Those suckers are soo huge it is easy to count them as they fall. Unless the queen is producing more than 30 new babies a day, this hive is doomed. I discovered the hive in the wall of my shop is more than 3ft tall. The top of the hive is beginning to poke out between 2 pieces of siding. I hit that piece with hornet spray and let it soak in. So far, that spray just seems to be pissing them off. I don't think it is killing any. With the bug zapper, I can see proof that it is working.
Heres a short video of my son's summer project. He took a beat up, non-running, about to be scrapped, old cheap no-name-brand lawnmower, and turned it into his personal little tractor. Dad had to help with the engine work, but he did most of the work himself, and he did 100% of the paint job. I like the paint colors he chose! The Model stickers say it is a 4020 Diesel

Hava great weekend everyone.

Cap! Nice saw!

Good morning. Sunny and breezy at my place, apple crates are out and it looks like the Viking apples have been picked. I am down to about 200 lbs of coal in the drum, so it is time to go get a ton out of the barn and get things dialed in for the new coal. We got a second load this week, so that puts the tally at 46 tons. The bagging crew was able to put a few tons of Lehigh & Stockton nut coal on the load, so the Hitzer in the shop won't get left out.

I have a few things on the job list, but this afternoon we are going to my dad's house for bbq chicken and ribs. Should be a lot of fun.

I bet "dad" wishes it was a 4020 diesel, that was one of the best models ever produced by John Deere.

Yep,it's Fair Time ! Looks like a mixed bag of Hot & Stormy for us here, but we'll see what comes. It's been a long time since I've had French Toast with Real Maple Syrup on it. Ma used to serve it up with powdered sugar sprinkled on top,and yes,she mixed the cinnamon into the egg wash when making it. Good Stuff ! The way I see the changing of the Season's,this is my time ! Love the weather, the fact that all the Harvests' are coming in,along with Halloween,Thanksgiving and "The Big Smasher"-Christmas !! Keep the Coffee Coming,Gang, and Enjoy Your Folks this Weekend !

I posted this in the last Saturday Coffee, but it was a little late
for most to see.

I spent the weekend at Cherry Springs and listened to a presentation
by this group of Penn State students. Pretty impressive group.
All I ever learned at college was how to drink beer.

Wow the French Toast was a big hit! Since it's mostly gone, I'll make up some for meself with the stale end-bread .. The Freetown syrup will make it go down nice. 8-)

Nice job your son did there Chris!! Authentic colors! Looks great!!

Boy does it get cold when that sun sets though. I hate that. Reminds me that winter is closing in ... :(

Yep, the fair is in the air! Went with my neighbor's last night to the local one. The daughter enters the derby every year, so I was on the pit crew. They needed my trailer with the winch to haul the hulks back out, so I was happy to help. Had a blast! I'll tell ya ... if there is any example of how crappy cars are these days, this is it! She managed to turn a Chevy Lumina into a Smart Car .... HAHAHAHAHAA!!

Maybe I'll do some minor body work on it and drive it a little while? :D
