Stoker Coal Boiler: Van Wert VA600

Post by bsteckel » Sun. Aug. 31, 2014 8:50 am

At this point, I am trying to assemble the controls I will need to get my Van Wert 600 up and running. The boiler came with a honewell 4006a1967 aquastat mounted in a well. If I am correct, this stat only will do one function for me .. I am looking for something that will turn on/off the stoker when needed for heat, and one that will activate a dump zone when temps get too high. My circulator between the coal and oil boiler will be running constantly. I would prefer to use the one existing well on the boiler as getting another out will likely be a tough task. Am I missing something as far as what else I may need this aquastat to do ??

Which one aquastat wil fit my needs here? brand and model will be great so I may try to find a good deal out there ....

thanks

Brad

The Honeywell L4081B should work. Or perhaps the Honeywell L8124B.

Or you can try this idea:

http://www.beckettcorp.com/aquasmart/

Or look at the 'Hydrolevel' 3150 or 3250 models.

Your existing aquastat will work for the stoker. Mount a tee & aquastat well in the supply header and install a L4006B for the dump zone.

Honeywell L8124, or L7224 will also work...so will a Hydrostat 3250. All three can maintain boiler temperature and offer a high limit for the timer circuit.
