I was doing my fall cleaning on the boiler and I noticed that swiper gasket was missing over the push bar and the metal bracket was rotted away. I have replaced this before but I don't have one on hand right now. so my question is how important is it? can I run it with out the gasket?

thanks chris

For what it takes, If it were mine, I'd replace the gasket. Speaking of fall cleaning, I need to brush down my Kaa-2 yet. I know it's the same as I shut down last spring. The little heater in the ash pit has kept the boiler temp gauge at 100* all summer. A good brushing down should be all it needs. We'll see....... Chris, I'm guessing the gasket helps prevent dust/fines from being carried out the back of the boiler via pusher block. Could also bind pusher block. Not to mention excess air coming in, and/or fumes coming out around the pusher block.

If you contact Keystoker I think they might be happy to put one in the mail for you. If they put that scraper gasket material on there, there must be a good reason and I personally wouldn't run without it, Good Luck! Mike

Good plan on the spares there 1975gt750. This way if that thing fails in February, you can be back in buisness right away.
