If you live long enough, you could mix a small amount in over time.

Buckwheat you can get away with, rice just isn't gonna be helpful to you. Your best bet is to find someone that:
A: Can use rice and has a bunch of buck or pea to swap
B: Someone that needs a bunch of rice and want's to pick it up

Sorry for the bad news young lad. :(

It will work, I burned 4 ton I had left over from my stoker stove. Just dump a bucket at a time in to the ahs, you will have reduced output somewhat. In a AA130, make sure it's not wet or it will clump up near the auger feed inlet.

I'm not sure what rice would do, but (since I was in the process of letting mine burn out for its annual cleaning) I tossed in a bucket of coal that had a fair quantity of fines. That snuffed the fire out in a hurry. So much for needing to wait for it to burn itself out.

My guess is that rice would act similarly, only not as quickly.

I have talked to more than one person that put a few tons of rice through an AA. 10 tons seems like a bit much through...probably be less frustrating to sell the rice coal or buy a rice-burning stoker.
