HELLO, ALL

Has anyone used coal from the South Tamaqua Coal Pocket ? Price is $170.00 a ton for rice picked up. The locals want $ 7.00 @ 40 lb. bag and around $260 a ton delivered, Mostly Reading or Blascak. We're in the Allentown pa area. Really like the bags , but don't have a bin only a 1 ton bag. Some charge $100.00 for a pallet of bags delivery charge. New stove first year !!!!

thanks

Ken

I need Rice coal and have 2 options:

1. Lehigh Anthracite at $212.00 per ton
2. Hudson Anthracite at $190.00 per ton.

Which is the better coal?

Thanks
Joe

Either option has about the same quality of coal. One might be a little better one time the other next but for in a stoker you shouldn't have any problems with either.

At the beginning of the summer I could have bought hudson coal for around 130-140.00. Mike: do u think prices will calm down or are higher prices here to stay?

The prices will follow whatever oil does but at a much slower rate same as it always has I think. I doubt hudson is 190.00 picked up at the breaker though probably a lot closer to 140.00 or 150.00 a ton. That price of 190.00 is probably delivered.

They it much better. I'm glad I hoarded 27 tons. I hope not to buy coal for a long time. I'll check my usage this year and buy more coal to get me to retirement.

Hi, This my first post. I just picked up 2 tons of rice from Schnecks on 443 south of Pine Grove. 170.00 a ton. He told me the coal came from Tuscarora Coal. Will this stuff burn ok in my Leisure Line Hearth? I hope so. I had to shovel 4400# into my bin.

That should burn allright in a stoker. Next time don't be afraid to try some coal from the Sherman Breaker just off the Hegins exit of 81. It burns hotter than a lot of the coal out there and is around 9% ash.

Bud, I burned 2 ton from Tuscarora last year and it was very good coal. And I have over 4 ton in the basement for this season. It should work good in your Leisure Line as long as you got the right size coal which I believe should be rice. Good luck! ;)

Razzler,
Yes. I did get rice. The whole ordeal of picking up the coal could not have been easier. I borrowed a twin axle dump trailer. Backed up next to the coal bin and started shoveling.

I have seen a few posts on Hudson Anthracite saying it was good coal but can anyone tell me how it compares to Superior or UAE as far as ash content and BTU
