I went to Calvin V Lenig off 225, 140 a Ton. There was a guy with white hair running the loader. Was that Mr. Lenig himself? It was almost 60 up here today so I probably won't be lighting the stove until it gets cold again.

I finally got a chance to burn some of this when my power went out for 4 days. It goes from like 8 degrees here one day and then like almost 60 the next outside. When the outside temp gets to the 50s i just let the stove die out but more importantly this Lenig coal looks pretty good. It is very shiny almost as shiny as Superior. Does anyone have specs on this coal as opposed to superior, hudson, reading, and UAE? is it posted somewhere?

On the bottom of page 21 is a list from coalberner.I've found it to be very accurate.
I'd put Hudson,Blaschak and Sherman coal about the same heat wise.I have found that there seems to be about 15% or so heat difference between good coal and great coal. That being said I have found Superior the most consistent in size, quality and ash.BTW I don't like Reading but some do.To much trash and rock.

Why didn't you get Blaschak????

Just started on my 3 tons of Blaschak about a week ago. I was burning Kimmel. So far we notice we are burning about 60 - 70% more Blaschak than Kimmel. We are using Bagged coal in Southern Maine. I am very disappointed in the Blaschak thus far.

Strip mined . There has been no deep mining in that area since the Knox mine disaster .

The only breaker right now selling 100% deep mined coal is UAE Harmony.
The only breakers that you are going to get deep and stripped mixed at are:
Summit- Some deep from Alfred Brown, maybe some from RS&W. Striped coal from there own strippings and from strippings off the Snake RD between Ashland and Centrailia

Superior-Deep from Orchard and B&B mines and striped coal from the same strippings off the snake rd. that summit gets some of their coal from/

Calvin Lenings was getting deep from RS&W, not sure were the rest of there coal comes from.

Sherman- Deep from Alfred Brown, stripping from there own strippings behind the zerbe airport.

Hegins Mining- Deep from S&M mine and a little from Alfred Brown, stripping from?

The only deep mines not accounted for are FKZ,N&L slope,Joliet (was idled but might be producing again),and Chesnut Coal Company.

They were trucking the raw coal in when I was there. It looked like they had alot of unprocessed and processed coal there to me. Where ever they got it, its burning good, good heat. Burning nut in the gibraltar now. Gonna feed the harman later when the hopper of superior coal runs through. Got ton of nut and 1.5 ton of rice. $150.oo a ton. :D

I have been burning Hudson coal for the last month or so in my stoker. Good heat, and I just picked up a 1/2 ton of nut for the kodiak, it is burning well. I am satisfied with their product and intend on getting more.

The Rest of Calvin V lenig coal was coming from Bear Gap coal co. The N&L slop mine Lykens # 4 vein 5.983 Tons. FKZ coal co inc. is the No. 1 mine Mammoth Middle split vein Not much or if any coming out of there . 150 tons last year

From what Superior Told Me they bought 100 Tons of coal from the snake Rd. pit for a contract that they needed to fill
I don't think they are or will be buying anymore coal from there . They also get a small amout of coal from Little buck
coal co, Which is Deep mine coal .

Hegins mining is buying coal from anyone that will sell them mine run /raw coal

Summit Pulled 8759 tons of deep mine coal out of there Brockton mine last year. They also strip out of the Brockton mine
14.361 tons and there Feather mine 1.048 tons

FKZ wasn't really in operation in 2007 but they were for the better part of 2008 and still are in 2009. As far as Superior not getting coal from Snake Rd anymore if there not getting it from there they have to get some someplace else. In 2007 B&B deep mine produced 12,390 tons of raw coal, for the 1st 3 quarters of 2008 they produced 10,428 tons. In 2007 the Orchard deep mine produced 12,031 and for the 1st 3 quarters of 2008 they produced 10,981 tons. But as far as I know a month ago they were still getting coal from the Snake Rd., which is alright any way because that is pretty good coal over there.
