Is that delivered or picked up? Bulk or bagged? I'm paying $200 per ton bulk/picked up and am further north than you.

I'm looking for a good place to get coal outside of Rome, NY (just north). Oneida or Southern Lewis County.

Thanks!

Greetings everyone! I'd appreciate it if some folks in the Hudson Valley, NY area could PM me with coal suppliers that deliver bulk to our area. I'm in Kingston (exit 19 on the Thruway).

look in the yellow book in your area for "coal brokers/ dealers". get a truck and go get it in bulk. or you can come to pa and get it. if at all possible stay away from bags it only increases the cost.

Bulk coal can be purchased in Solsville, NY near Oneida and Pompey, NY near Syracuse for market rates. Can't mention the names of the businesses here according to the rules but their prices are 190 picked up and the Solsville dealer will deliver for 234/ton.

I called Coal Broker last year and he said he could get me a tri-axle load out of Kentucky for $160/ton plus $800 shipping. I said No its too much.

If there is someone in the Milwaukee or Northern Il area let me know.

The steam tractor guys get it from there clubs, but most of them are out and need replenishment too.

Before august this year, anthracite peas could be had from southern PA fields for 100 per ton plus shipping. About 1000 for a 23-25 ton load to my area around norwich ny

I've had similar quotes for delivery to central Maryland. The problem I have is delivery is made in a 70 ft. long tractor trailer. That's what almost all the long haul independent truckers use that haul coal. The much shorter tri-axle dump trucks are not used because per axle weight restrictions on roads leading to some breakers makes it to costly. They can't fill the truck with a full load without exceeding the per axle weight restriction. It would also be tough for a 70 ft. rig to back into my driveway. BTY Norfok Southern Rail Road delivers 100 tons at a time. Check out their web site for an interesting video of rail cars being emptied into ships by rotating the car. Two at a time! http://www.nscorp.com/
