Image Error

Image Error

PostBy: WNY On: Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:44 am

Richard,

I was trying to upload a picture, (.JPG) and recieved this error.

"Image file type mismatch: expected extension bmp but extension jpg given."

Then Tried BMP and it won't let you upload BMP files.

Then, I re-saved the file as .JPG and it worked....sorry.

THanks.

You can't upload .bmp's , there's a list here: File Size Limits

BMP's BTW are generally 10X the size of .jpg. Really useless for that matter, they save as uncompressed which won't introduce any artifacts however .tiff will do the same thing and save you half that file size.

Maybe it was a BMP and I renamed it to a JPG or something or had a setting wrong in my photoshop when I saved it? I don't know.

Got it the second time around.....

The renamed extension sounds logical, once you upload it will check the header on most files especially ones that will displayed and can be opened in a browser like images.
