Looks to be a good price on it too, if the insides are in good shape

Where is the Craigslist thread located. Did not see it on the main board index. I also did not see it in any threads. I did do a search for Craigslist and did get some listings, is this what you are talking about?

wsherrick wrote:How the back pipe is configured differs from stove to stove. Some stoves have holes drilled in the back pipe or base burner damper, some don't. I've noticed that the smaller base heaters don't have this but the larger stoves do. This is a safety feature to insure that there is a positive draft always, I believe. If you can't find any thing warped or broken then I would assume that is the way they wanted it as a safety feature.
Thank you William, I do not see any warping so I am sure it is the way it is suppose to be.

As long as you have some money & some time,it could be a very good trouble to be into. You don't have to keep them all,you can refurb & sell or even give them away for Christmas presents to those without .

@ Dave, that's the problem...$$$$ retired but not old enough for SS yet. If I could sell these two wood stoves I would have more room and more cash in my pockets. I have one listed on CL and need to get the other one cleaned up and listed too.

To keep on thread, I am going to pull the grates out of the Andes today and get them ready to ship to Tomahawk Foundry for copies to be made. Sunny Boy had a good point, have them made while I still have the two that are not warped.

Randy, I sure do not need a WOOD stove but I do hope you find buyers for yours. Sunny Boy did bring up a good point, I also like your idea of using the stove with the finish as it is rather than replating it.I have been following this project with much interest & will continue to follow & anxious to see the end result. More chimneys ?? :)

When I put the addition on the back of the house, I intend to put a chimney on it and move the cook stove into that addition. I will probably then put the Andes on the chimney in the garage.

Ok, got the grates pulled and discovered another issue. I thought the "front" grate was the same as the "rear" grate, however I was wrong. While the teeth of the grates are the same size, the shoulders where they hook into the fire pot are different size. Attaching photo showing the difference. Now the hunt is on to find a good long rear grate. I thought the small rear grate was warped too but it is fine...just the long rear one.

Proper heating of the warped grate should get it good enough to cast a new one from it.

Proper being the operative word here and I am not the one to attempt that. If I cannot find one to copy, I will take it to a welder friend of mine who is better equipped to attempt this.

I have already sent off e-mails to 3 different places to see if they have one. I will wait and see if they already have one copied or have one I can copy.

Randy, fire up that coal range, lay the warped grate on top of the coal fire, let it get hot,use rod hooks to remove, lay on flat metal ,if still warped put the hump up & apply weight or down pressure on the hump, that should get it real close. You may not have as big a forge as a blacksmith uses but yours should work for this small job.

I have thought about that myself...and it is only about 1/8" high in the center. Not sure it would fit in the stove though.
