Looks like your draft is almost "in the red". Hang in there Lee, "The end is near".

Yeah, that's where she idles at thru the low slow burn during the warm days. I've gotten her down closer to 180 over the load door, blowers don't come on all day long. It just gravity feeds a little convection air on it's own. The end is almost near, a few weeks at most. It's a bitter sweet change. I look forward to the nice weather and fun times outside but it's a little bit sad to put her away till next year.

New record for maintained low/slow burn.

172 over the load door
136 on the pipe

Been cruising at those temps all night.

Ten hours later, hasn't been touched.
Hardly budged lol.

Yep, I'm kinda bored

It's just so impressive how stable anthracite is, being that it's relatively unrefined out of the ground and being burned in somewhat of a barbaric box. Neato..

You're doing really good with it Lee, cause the next few days are gunna be crap. I'm listening to my liquid machine sucking down the Arabian coffee as we speak. Maybe I'll check the long distance forecast and see what the next weeks highs and lows are expected to be. Could there be another "spark" of anthy in my future? :)

Light her up Joe!! :D

We have several days of 40's with lows at night going to mid 20's coming up.

Same settings as yesterday, did a shake and load since then. Give it a specific amount of oxygen and you get a specific amount of heat. Amazing stuff!

I've found the same kinda thing that you have on air settings.

I'll throw a couple shovels of coal in, close the primary air (it won't shut down completely due to cast nubs on the spinner), open the MPD completely and let her go. 24 hours later, I still have hot coals . Even with OAT's reaching the mid 70's in the daytime, the house is not getting too hot and with nighttime OAT's down to 40 or below the house is staying comfortable.

I made the decision to not put any coal on this evening. I believe tomorrow will be the end of my coal season for 2014-2015. It's also my day off from work so I plan to do the total clean out and prep Ashley for her summer slumber..

Thanks Joe, and thanks to everyone here. It makes it all that much more fun! She's kept the family warm as toast, even at 18 below zero. Of course it took 130 pounds that day.

I am proud.. :)

Here's the coal usage data for the entire 2014-2015 heating season..
From start date in Oct to end of Dec - 24 hour tending schedule
Jan and Feb - 12 or 18 hour tending (which ever was required)
March and April to finish date- 24 hour tending

On days in the shoulder months where you see a zero - I did two 36 hour burns across 3 days.
I did have one (maybe two) 48 hour burn lol..
On days that I did more than one tending - I added the two weights together for that day's total.

Short period totals happened when my ash tub was full enough to weigh and dump which is why you'll see them stretch across the month changes.

coal total for the season is 11232 pounds (5.616 tons)
ash total for the season is 1755 pounds 15.6%

Started with 12200 + round about a few hundred left over from the year before
12200 - 11232 = 968

I have roughly 1300 pounds left (based on volume measurement using 32 cu ft per ton)

This proves that my coal man is honest and accurate.. :D

Thanks Paul! Don't tell my wife though, green does NOT look good on her AT ALL!

Um I also should mention that I didn't type that all in this morning. I kept track daily, thru the winter with a note file on my smart phone then just copied pasted and emailed it to my computer and then snapped it in the reply message box. Had it been any more difficult to post up my season data here, I probably woulda just did a summary of totals hahaha...
