Hell HB, she'll run fine even if some of the mud don't stay put. Next springs just around a LONG DISTANT corner ( maintenance time) :)

You will need the slicing poker to clear ash as well as shaking. Very effective and needs to be with such small grate area. You will probably find the coal tends to bridge also and has to be given a poke from above to drop.

I like what Smitty does on the air control. Make a mark with a felt pen on the stove body and another on the rotating control in the closed position. Makes it easy to see how far it is open.

So it sounds pretty much like my hotblast furnace, that darn thing will bridge almost everyday, I'm so used to it now,no big deal.

That is exactly what I have done with my furnace, don't think I will with this pretty enamel though, I'll figure something out.

Just a dot is all you need. You can also put a different color at the 6 o'clock position to indicate half turn.

It sure looks like this little heater is worthy, now please tell us about the temp outside and inside the garage etc. Mike.

OAT 59 hi 42 lo 69 in garage this morning, lit stove about 12 hrs ago, it still hasn't "caught" yet, I have no blue ladies, but with me sleeping and being gone today I haven't quite opened it up yet, running at 1.5 turns.

Put a total of 25 lbs of pea in last night at 630, I'm hoping tonight I can get away with a 5-10 lbs reload!

24 hr tend update, put a whopping 10 lbs in to fill it back up! Stove was cruising right along at 325 stove top and 140 stack temp, high today of 54, garage temp of 70. If this sips coal like this all winter I'm in love!
