Got the Glenwood #9 alight for the first time (thx William). Top of the stove 425* and the flu about 170*, just the normal world class base heater stuff. However, here is the kicker and why I love this stove. I have a heavy cast iron pot in the dutch oven in the top. Water, oranges (whole), cloves, cinammon sticks (any other suggestions?) and the water gently boiling and the smell in the house is just fabulous. He is named Wizard and I'm in love.

Install looks good on the #9. I bet the smells are nice and it will add some moisture to the air too. Looks really nice.

Nice. I'll have to try your recipe in my cast iron tea kettle. I was thinking about a perfume to add to the water. I like your home made brew. Hope you stay warm. Matt

Stove 359* I know can go lower but the house needs that right now. The top of the flu 100*. No more heat to suck out, I get warmer than that looking at photos of Cindy Crawford.

Potpourri ? Put some stew in that pot and then you'll be using all that heat to make dinner, . . . instead of just drool !

You have now entered the world of base heaters. You are going to have a good winter with them and once you go base heater you don't go back.

Hey Newbie , surely you don't need that little mighty stove when you have those three other ones keeping you company. Just a simple observation. Would you consider selling the our glenwood to me for a modest price. Seems like the number is a little much for a home like mine. I'm running out of shorts and t shirts.
By the way the stove looks nice and I'm sure it smells great. I'll have to try doing the same with the oranges.

Sorry Kevin, Wizard is not for sale at any price. Some people collect shirts from NFL stars or signatured baseballs, I have a stove once owned by the master, find your own. That should be easy as there must be at least 5 left in the world.
These stoves do punch above their weight, however, my little entry may be seriously outclassed in pure heat output but it is incredibly efficient in the shoulder seasons. When the weather gets b itchy I just know two of the big boys will have to help out but for now ... ohhh baby.
Barely ticking over and as the weather is milder next week so I am going to see how long it is until it just goes out. 24 hours and counting ..... Top of the flu 88*, top the barrel 166*, second rib up on the barrel 257* (the insulated firepot). The race is on. We continue until white dust and coldness. However, the Potpourri is not working so well now.
You may own the muscle car but in certain traffic conditions a mini Cooper is better.... I used to race my 1300s (not the BMW crappola copies) long before you whippersnappers were born. The Brands Hatch (UK) race between Coopers and Ford Galaxy 500s taught me much about life.

thx William. The Our Glenwood is a totally different flow path than the No 8, the Herald and the Wings Best. On the No 9 the gas goes down around the fire pot. This insulates the fire bed from excessive heat loss. Air brought in via the secondary damper goes over the fire then straight down. Because it is insulated the fire will NOT go out. It just won't. It will just barely glow.
When you want more heat you just open up the stove and remember always to close the check damper.
