Buried Gas Line-Buried Marker?

Called the plumbing inspector earlier this week asking about the depth variance in my gas line trench. He said that 12" is the minimum depth and suggested that I run the line through schedule 40 PVC conduit where the trench doesn't meet the 18" depth. That made the plan a bit easier. I finally had a chance to work on the trench with a clay bar and a trenching shovel I picked up at lowes. It became apparent the trenching machine did a much better job than it appeared. Depth of the trench was more than 18" when I cleaned it out. The boulders that made the trencher veer off the line, well, I got lucky and the trench was on the edge of two of them. I was able to clean out around them with an hour's labor. The other two were in the bottom of the trench and were down 15" and stayed at that depth for ~ 8' after I cleaned up the loose stuff. I ended up lining the trench with sand to 18" and sleeved the plastic coated copper gas line in the shallower area.

Advil to the rescue! Hope to get the inspector there Monday morning for the pressure test etc. so I can start backfilling. Gravel pit is picky about GVWR. They've maxed me at 12,000.
They haven't loaded me with more than 1.6 tons in the trailer. I've asked for 2 yards ( ~5,000 lbs) and the second time asked for 4,000 Lb). Yesterdays gross was 11,300. Rig tares out at 8,180 lbs. I'm registered for more and my F-150/Maxim dump trailer CGW (combined gross weight) is 13,500.This list isn't the pit I'm using. I'm going to a similar glacial deposit a few miles north.
