I've never experienced burning anything but wood and bituminous. Always enjoyed the long burn times and excellent heat output but always secretly hated dealing with fines, huge amounts of volatiles, and the stink of a fresh load of bit.

So...I bought some anthracite at Tractor Supply last week and have burned about 3 bags. Oh my, what a different animal. Hardly any smoke or smell, no spending an hour watching for the volatiles to burn off so I can set it, and fewer fines to clog the fire and make a mess.

This stuff is almost load and forget it.

I feel so unclean...

Put a rocking chair and sit in front of the unit and repeat. I am warm, I am warm, I am warm. The unclean feeling will change to warmth.
