There used to be LOTS Canadian coins (but not paper) in circulation around here, being close to the border and having many locals of French Canadian descent who visited back and forth. All the stores accepted them, you would often get them in change and think nothing of it, even the vending machines would take them. Then there were some periods when US currency was stronger. Stores generally would still give and take without question, but vending machines rejected them and banks got irritated if you snuck a couple Canadian quarters into a roll you were changing for dollars (remember this was back when almost all store transactions were in cash). I was so used to Canadian coins in Maine, I once tried to spend a simple dime in Dallas and the clerk thought I was trying to be funny, then she thought I was being an *censored* until finally I realized what was up. Embarrassing.

You forgot the best ingredient, fresh cheese curd. Some places also put things like smoked meat on it. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Yes! poontang is good. There are a few places you can get it in the States.
I wonder if that's what Canadian women taste like. :?

What I don't understand is what's with throwing in the extra "U"s into words that don't need them (colour) or how about the last letter of the alphabet being zed instead of zee.

Being English I can respond to that one. They are still speaking and spelling the language properly. The US is it a state of flux. Those liberal idiots are working hard to make Spanish the national language, So thank the Canadians for reminding us of our roots.

Since I made this thread in November 2014, the exchange rate has improved.

As of today, the rate is one US dollar to 1.25 Canadian dollar.

What did Canada do so wrong to get their money to suck worse than ours?

For the record, I like both Poutine and poontang. Smother it in gravy and cheese curds and I'd still eat it.
