Can't get attached images to open.

Can't get attached images to open.

PostBy: jpen1 On: Fri Feb 15, 2008 10:54 pm

For some reason I have been unable to get attached popup images to open for about a week or so. I keep getting an error message from the kodak easy share software which says cannot find file or file has been moved. I guess the software from kodak is set as my default for viewing jpegs and the likes, but I can't find where I can change this setting as I would prefer to use my photo shop software as the default anyway. Anyone know how I can change this setting and/or have any ideas why all of a sudden I can't view the attached files?

Thanks Jim

I've made no changes that I'm aware of that would affect that, so I understand you which link are you clicking and what exactly are you doing with it? Like a send to Easyshare command or something?

BTW you can usually change the default association for file types in what ever program you want to use, I don't have photoshop so I can't give you specifics for that program, try the options or preference menu.

To do it manually go to start > control panel > Folder options > File Types tab ...

Scroll through the file types and finfd the extension you want to associate, select it, then click the "change button" and select a new default program.

One thing to note, and this is especially true when dealing with media based programs, they usually all want to to associate themselves with the extensions they can open. Be sure when installing such programs that you find the options for not changing the extension associations unless of course you want to.

Thanks Richard,

I got it switched so photoshop is the default program to view jpe, jpeg, and jpg and i can now view everything better than ever. I guess that kodak program was just being a PITA. It came with a point and shoot I got for the wife and it automatically changed my defaults and I forgot how to change it back. However it has worked okay up until this past week . It could also be internet explorer as there auto updates corrupted my printer's driver and needed a patch so the printer would work at all and it also crashed auto cad which alos needed a patch to allow it to work with out conflicting.

That particular program seems to be nuisance for everyone as I've seen it mentioned before, you don't need so uninstall it. Seems printers, cameras and scanners are the worse when it comes to installing crap on your machine you don't need. Just as quick example I have a HP scanner here and the only download on HP's site for it is 210MB  , no choice to simply get the drivers and the scanner interface, instead they want to install a mountain of crap... That's besides the fact if you're on dial up, download like that would take you better part of entire day and then you have to hope you don't get disconnected or it gets corrupted.

It could also be internet explorer as there auto updates

IE might be the issue too, the files are served as raw encode to every browser except IE. For example you'll see the link for an image looks like this, file.php?id=171 . Theres a http header sent to browser that says this is an image so it it doesn't try and parse it as text or something else, IE won't respect that and wants a file extension so it has to be served as normal HTML page.
