So I'm not surprised. I set the thermostat to 71f and I get:

"Do we need to leave the heat at 71f?"

I said "yes. because we can"

They're never happy. ;)

Wife hates to be chilled. We lit off September 13 and had windows and doors open more than once. It was a challenge to keep the stove at a simmer on the warm days and not lose the draft. As the season progressed a bit we started getting into 50's and 40's at night. No more sideways looks. Only time our house gets BELOW 70 is if we got a cool spell that moved in during the night and I got caught with my damper down.

Now that we are in the 30's/20's at night the rocking chair has magically moved from the corner of the dining room to the front of the stove. :inlove:

My bride is not an eco-Nazi of any kind, but she's always the one who's too hot, whereas my skinny a$$ is generally cold. When I get the house too warm for her, I tell her to simply open the windowstats, but she doesn't like that concept. But, she doesn't tend the furnace, so I get to do more or less what I want! :D :D

Its been at least 70 in my house all week now because of my stove.

I'll take a toasty 70 over a chilly 60-62 any day of the week. Granted, its 85 in the stove room so I need to get better air circulation going.

That's why I didn't lesson to my friend when he said "just get a stove". I like this if someone was to come over they might never know that I'm burning coal. But I might show them anyway. :D

Still too warm for my tastes too. Almost 60* right now, and the nites are still in the 40s. I'll keep burning the mid-nite oil, till the cold sets in. Don't want to be tending to a stove, while the heat goes out the window. Don't have much choice right now anyway. my supplier still hasn't gotten their shipment of pea coal yet. Everyone's got nut and rice, but pea is like gold in these parts.

It's only really warm like that on shoulder seasons. In the dead of winter, when its -15 in the morning (I'm in the mountains of northern Vermont), having that stove going feels pretty nice and it'll be 75-80 in that room and 60-65 in the rest of the house. I'm looking at getting a bigger stove and adding more circulation to my house right now actually as my stove is a bit undersized.

It is still to warm around here to. My wife seems to be hot all the time anyways so I will have to wait a little while to light up. It did go to freezing a couple nights the last couple days but still to hot through the day. I would guess before the end of the month I will light it, I don't want to use to much oil.

My bride is a hot bod too, but I've been keeping the house around 72deg, with temps here in 'da U.P, eh? in the single digits at night. So far she hasn't complained much.

Yeah I think she's getting used to it. The think I have a hard time with it not knowing the heat is on. Before web moved here in February we had forced air propane in a single wide trailer. Then when I bought this place the fuel oil boiler was/is very noticeable. Now I need to be by the thermostat to hear the click. :D
