Well, TSC is cheaper by over a dollar a bag than the suppliers here. One of them won't even deliver bulk anymore it's cash and carry only. I bought coal from one of them for 15 years and he just doesn't care anymore and gets his coal from the cheapest place he can. It got to the point that I just didn't know what to expect when getting coal. He stopped carrying stove size because he had so many complaints about it burning like crap. I also noticed that last year his pea size was very inconsistent varying from buck to close to stove. I even pointed it out to him in his bin. He got pissed and told me I could buy it somewhere else if I chose, so I did. Piss on him.

SuperBeetle, that is the kind of supplier to walk away from,he obviously considers coal a nuisance. TSC has 40# bags, are you comparing 40# to 40 #,most other suppliers have the 50 #

When one has to figure the delivery option, This sometimes means a lot. I have a local dealer that charges $299.00 per ton plus $40.00 for delivery. This year I ordered 4 ton, cost me $1236 delivered and set by my cellar door. After bustin gut all summer doing masonry at 61 yrs old this is my only option. Cant imagine manhandling 4 ton of coal.

Yep 40 to 40. Coal is all they do anymore. They used to sell stoves too but stopped that a number of years ago. They used to have really good coal but last year it was very poor. When I inquired I was told that they were buying from 4 different breakers. They have a very nice set up and all of their coal is kept inside from the weather and they do their own bagging onsite. I know the previous year there were a lot of complaints with the stove size. I also know the place was for sale but, no one even looked at the property.windyhill4.2 wrote:SuperBeetle, that is the kind of supplier to walk away from,he obviously considers coal a nuisance. I'm trying to get The Home Depot to carry coal. It's something they can do so we'll see what happens. (Yes, I do work there.) I know it can be done. There are some hoops to jump through to merchandise it. I know we sell a hellava lot of wood pellets. We received 44 tons Friday night and are supposed to get 44 more tons today. They won't last long either. We get calls every day about them. We already sold over 100 tons. I know we could sell a lot of coal as well.

That's nice that TSC see's a quick buck in coal ,glad for them. I'll be sticking with Wittenbrader coal, some of the nicest people you can talk to and it's a generational family business with very reasonable prices.
