As expected, I set off every smoke alarm in the house. After it had finished smoking and I closed the windows back up, the basement really started warming up! I installed the Coal troll upstairs and do not have the ducting setup right yet.
Wow.... was it ever warm down stairs this morning!
Years ago, I tied the hood over my hand fired stove into the plenum of the furnace. This worked a little bit, but the furnace blower tends to blow the air out of the plenum and back over the stove. I'm going to re-route the duct from the hood to the cold air duct so that the warm air from the Pocono will be pulled into the furnace by the furnace blowerand pushed up through the hot air ducts to the upstairs. Then, I'll have to figure out how to hook up the wiring for a fan limit switch above the Pocono stove. I'm thinking that it should be wired in parallel with the fan limit switch on the furnace. Does that sound right?
I'm also planning to extend the hood lower around the stove to prevent so much heat radiating out in the basement and pull it into the upstairs.
I'll post pictures when I'm all done.
Fired up the Pocono for the First Time Last Night.

This thread has been viewed 44 times & no one has commented about my question about wiring the fan limit switch. Does anyone know about wiring it?

I can't answer your question, there are some others who posted similar issues & i'm sure someone familiar with what to do or where to direct you will chime in when they find the time. It's good to hear that you at least have coal heat going.

Yes in parallel. It would be easier if you didn't have a coaltrol you can then use a 2 stage t-stat. But you can get creative with it if you want I don't know what your intentions are

I didn't give it much thought before but if I wire it in parallel with the furnace fan limit switch will it turn the blower on without the furnace burner running?

parallel = either/or will call to run.Protrucker wrote:I didn't give it much thought before but if I wire it in parallel with the furnace fan limit switch will it turn the blower on without the furnace burner running?
But w/o the propain burner the furnace fan limit will never get heated to start that fan.
Your propain fan should use a fan relay...make that relay work and the furnace fan will work.
