i bought the house last year, and it has this stove in the basement. i'm not sure what it is or even if it is worth anything. can anyone provide any information on this. I never used coal, I grew up with wood, and I would like to replace this with a wood stove because i'm more familiar with it. the grate needs to be replaced and suggestions where I can locate one? if I were to sell it, how much would I be able to get for it?

thanks

Robert

They are called "parlor Furnaces" and are quite common. They came out in the 30's and can produce prodigious amounts of heat. If it is in good condition try running it . They are not big sellers and usually go in the $100-$200 range if complete. Actually they are pretty goo stoves. if complete and in good condition.

that's great information, it's in great shape, everything seems to work on it, so i'm defintely going to fire it up and see what I can do. hopefully it works well and supplements my heating bill.
