I'm posting this from the wife's lap-top, as I can not post, reply, or quote from the desk-top computer. The post, reply, and quote buttons are not even on the screen. Everything else is on the screen except post, reply, and quote buttons. I can send a new PM, but can't reply to one. Any ideas / fixes? I believe it is in the computer settings of some sort, as the lap-top, and desk top run off the same router. Thanks, Oliver

That's ok Richard, I know everyone has a life of there own. Thought I'd toss this problem out to see if anyone else has an idea. It started out with one of those pesky up-dates that always pop up on the screen. The screen is locked up till you choose, and try to continue on. But, things are changed. And me.......being a computer illiterate, am not able to figure it out. The computer is a Dell, using Windows 8.0 Home page is Frontier powered by Yahoo. Also, Internet Explorer is the symbol I first click on when starting up. I'm not sure which is called what. I do appreciate your continuing help Richard, Oliver

Just for kicks and giggles, try logging out, restarting the computer and logging back on..

Are you by any chance seeing other differences in the pages such as words in posts as links with double underlines?

---------------------------------------------------

While viewing this page on your browser click the little gear on the right, go to

File >> save as

From the drop down menu next to "save as type" select "webpage, HTML only".

Save the file somewhere, send to me in email as attachment. I'll give you email in PM.

OK, will do when I get time. Wife's lap-top is 8.1. Must have made some changes between 8, and 8.1. I surly wouldn't know of any.

That shouldn't have anything to do with it. There might be some minor glitches with different browsers and OS's but this is no minor glitch. Since you are the only one it's something specific to your setup.

Try this, hit and hold the ctrl key, then hit f5, release both. That does refresh but it's full refresh of the page.

Since most folks have win 8.1 ... best to have the OS that people are aware of and used to when troubleshooting. Plus get more help. I cannot offer a solution due to the win 8.0 ...

Since nothing on this site has changed for a very long time and no one else using 8 has had any trouble I'm aware of it's unlikely it has anything to do with the OS. This has to be some local issue specific to that machine.

I have had issues like that in the past on other websites - it ended up being either Ghostery or NoScript blocking Javascript on the page.

So, could he be having a problem with Java or flash updates?

Might be too silly, but are you sure you are logged in? Maybe log out and then in again. Try with Firefox or Chrome?

The buttons show up whether you are logged in or not. There is also text if the button image itself does not appear. The copy of the page he sent me is completely normal as far as I can tell and indicates he is logged in. This is actually really strange. <twilight zone music>

My only guess at this point is the CSS file which controls the formatting is corrupted on his computer, hitting ctrl f5 as I suggested above will fix that if it's the issue. Other than that something is blocking the links.

No, Still not fixed............. One thing I KNOW will fix the problem is; Put it down cellar next to the last one, and buy a new computer. That's how I fixed the last one. Oiver
