....that goes out to all involved the last 2 and a half days. Took the family down to Portland for the week end to see what city folks are like glad to be home. And the Vigil held fire for 54 hrs.

Hi Larry, sorry I kinda' left you hanging a couple days ago but you were in good hands. After reading the last five pages I think you took off the wood burning hat and adjusting the coal burning hat for a better fit. Keep at it!
Mike.

In regard to clinkers they will form easier if the fire is too hot. A larger mass of coal burned cooler will throw just as much heat as a smaller fire burned hot.
Next is to try to get the soot down. Did you keep the baro? .1 draft is too high.

Thanks, Fred.
However, the jury's still out.
Because I didn't load it up earlier, I just went back down to put some more coal in.
Manometer was back to .05

It was a booger getting the new stack to fit.
We ended up sliding the furnace ahead a few inches and then sliding it back.
It's not meant to come out easily
Right now, mano is .13
Maybe I should have kept the MPD or Baro?

Yes. Now that you have the manometer, reinstall the baro. you can adjust it properly with the manometer.larryfoster wrote:It was a booger getting the new stack to fit.

Is there any danger until I get it put back in?

Not really, because you can slow your fire down by shutting down the under fire air, and opening up the over fire air. Both or either can slow down your fire.larryfoster wrote:Is there any danger until I get it put back in?

Your welcome. Just keep an eye on your fire, see how it acts. Make sure you can get it slowed down if necessary. And keep buckets of ashes nearby to smother it if ya need to.larryfoster wrote:Thanks, Don
