Mine doesn't look quite as nice , but I went into the coal like you said , the poker was cherry red when it came out . This coal is really broken up and probably should have been returned.

Powder turns right to ash...bad...just poke the bed until it settles down. Ash pan area looks good.

Good evening. I have a 6 day fire going on right now. Being it is down right frigid here in pa. I'm slowly turning this stove up to max. Returned from work today (10 hrs outside) and my living room is a toasty 73 degrees. I'm likeing that a lot !
I'm still shooting for the 11 day fire
Stay warm my friends and be safe if you are working out side

Brrr. Day 8 for the fire. Had to really poke and slice the coal tonite. Was losing the fire in the rear of the stove. I literally was on my stomach poking this thing. Whole house was 71 or warmer but think I can do better. That seems to be the critical are . My coal buying venture didn't pan out very well. Ace hardware in east Greenville wanted 7.90 / 40lbs bag. Dampman up the road was closed at 3pm on a Friday? Won't go there anymore. Bad news is my job relocated me right down the road from my house. 23 minute commute vs. the great coal region of central pa 2+ hour one way. Any ways. Found this place on rt 100 in becthelsville Livngreen landscape. Stopped today and ask all the right questions. 235 a ton any size. Free 5 mile delivery. 50lb bagged 7.50 One ton bagged pallet 280. All sizes in the yard and the fellow was bagging as we spoke. A tri axle pulled in with the j&l loggo on it and I ask him what mine he was coming from and he replied Lehigh ant. I'm stopping back in the morning for 10 bags of nut. Haven't burned this coal yet only reading. Heck I haven't burned a ton of coal yet in short burning career! Stay warm
Craig
Ps another idea I have is lining the entire top surface of this heater and cutting it in to my baseboard heat system ? Wouldn't take much to do . I have a plumber friend I have to consult with

10 days and still going strong! Made some more poking tools and been trying to really clear the back side . I also made a switch to Lehigh anthracite nut . My chimgard on the door was near the 600 degree mark . There is a difference in the coal , looks different , crackles different and looks like it was yellow hot if there is such a thing.

Hi everyone, this is my first post, and I didn't want to start a new thread. I am looking to pic up a Wonderluxe Coal and wood burner from tractorsupply this week. I had a few questions that some of you may be able to answer

How is it vented? Through the wall or through a chimney? Can it be vented through the wall, I see its a rear vent so that's what made me think of that.
How would wood be burnt in this is it is vented through the wall?
Where would I get a manual damper?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum HicadeeGirl92.

That stove needs a chimney, and Tractor supply sells dampers for in the flue pipe.

Would it need to go all the way up to the top of the chimney?

I have a two story house, the piping for that would cost more then the unit itself lol

There isn't any other way?

What I meant was, it's best to hook it into an existing chimney, if possible. Is your chimney currently being used, and if so, what is hooked into it?

I have steam heat, and it is very inefficient, so I am looking for another way to heat up/ The chimney is in use from the furnace we have downstairs and I would rather be able to side vent it, if possible. That is all I was wondering since to vent it up the chimney will cost a lot. This would be going in my family room also just to heat living room and upstairs

Swpadon is correct. The tsc damper is pretty funny I think made of cast iron and molded right in it is the made in China add the rod and spring and fancy tag and sell it for 4.99 how can they do that? I burned wood only in mine up until I seen the video at the head of this post around Black Friday or so . I'm hooked on coal but have free access to all the wood I can burn for free . Don't bother with the shaker in this stove when burning coal. It does not work at all. I get my steel round bar and flat stock at tsc also. I love that store always something I need there! You'll need to fab some pokers and pullers. The stove is a wood beast it will keep u warm for sure.
The people on here have been nothing but helpful. Good luck with what ever u burn and keep on posting here to keep the "poor"" Wonderluxe alive !

When you said best to hook into existing chimney, It is hooked up to my steam furnace, and is also not easily accessible

I don't think that stove can be vented out thru your wall, I believe it will need a chimney. There are other options with other types of stoves though.

What part of the internet do you live in? Do you buy wood or is it free? Do you want to burn coal most of the time?

I do want to burn coal all of the time. But I don't have the budget to buy a stoker, I'm comfortable spending about $1000-$1500 on a stove but it seems hand fired ones at that price all need a chimney, and a two story house will get quite expensive
