We only got a few inches of snow up here by the border, and that is fine with me. No need to put the plow on the truck. I am taking the family over to my parents house for Thanksgiving, I'm sure the house will be about 80 degrees with the gas oven running all day. There is supposed to be 12-15 of us, so it should be an interesting afternoon.

Gobble gobble.

We lost power yesterday at 16:00. It hasn't been restored. We were supposed to have family over today but had to cancel. We have no way to cook our turkey or anything else. We thought about the grill but the turkey is too large.

So, here we sit under generator power playing board games. Other than the fact we have no turkey to eat we're enjoying each others company.

As usual JCP&L's handling of this snow storm had been less than satisfactory. We should be used to it.

As I carve my turkey today my thoughts and prayers are with all that are in need. I was (am) part of that group for without anyone and everyone that reads this I am grateful.
God did indeed bless the Separatist's that had the courage, (balls) to voyage with blind faith with certain peril to follow their hearts...wow and we feel good building a fire! :dancing:

Just me and the wife today, family all in Georgia. Today is my birthday (55). If I had known I was gonna live this long, I would have either taken better care of myself OR raised more hell in my 20's :)

I'd like to send out a special Thanksgiving Thank You to all our troops both home & spread out all over the world. Having spent some of my holidays in uncertainty to say the least I know how it feels but they always tried to do what they could to make things a little nicer but it was never close to being home.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I am most thankfull for two wonderful, healthy kids. Everything else is trivial. It's all about them. Now that I am a parent I can truly appreciate the sacrifices my mother made for my sister and I. God Bless you all, my cyberspace family. Samhill I wish your wife a speedy recovery. Attached a song for the occassion.

Happy Thanksgiving.
Matt

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm sure glad the coffee house got opened up & well used.... Sorry I couldn't join you... I had no Internet! (Another) 15 inches of wet heavy snow took out power for over 100,000 and it took the Internet with it. The electric company has workers work on holidays, but the cable company? Not so much! No power for 18 hours and no Internet for about 24. Plans here didn't change though, other than I had to fire up the generator & spend some hours snow blowing. Thanks to the Feds trying to keep us safe, my gas oven won't work without electricity. The burners I can light with a match, but the oven requires non stop electricity to keep running. It all worked out. The turkey got cooked, all the veggies got made & seven of us had a wonderful meal. We honored Marty as best we could by cooking her favorites & wishing she was here to enjoy them. My girls came up from Boston to make sure I wasn't alone. It was nice!

Sam, I hope your wife is feeling better each day. Hang in there.

Time for leftovers!

PS... Lightning... love the photo & especially the "heartstone". *smile*

AH yes! The heart stone! Cool you noticed it. My grandfather (in the center with white sweater on) was a mason all his life. He still does some small side jobs. That is all his stone work behind us. He did a stone hearth for all his kids (that's my Mom's house in the pic) and he also has one in his house and has done countless others for customers. He is very talented with the stones and mortar. His trademark is to put a heart shaped stone in every hearth/chimney surround that he builds. Thank you for noticing! 8-)
