Mondays opening deer season. I will not be taking off, But I will come home and sit on back deck for an hour every night.... waiting for that stray to wonder thru the woods, and saturday following I will be out.

A message for every hunter out there from Mike: When in doubt don't shoot. Safety First.

Grand son went out behind houses, back side of a wildlife sanctuary. He saw a y spike,8pointer, and a ten pointer. Bigger ones too far away for him to shoot at( 1st year hunting), but shot at the y spike......and missed. He says they are moving good, even some(doe) came back shortly after the shot. Now I know where to go in the EARLY AM(before sunrise) and sit at. Maybe just maybe I will see the bigger ones.

My parent's yard looks the same, but at night. During the day, it's a flock of 30-40 turkeys!

1st day of shotgun here in MA. Neighbor called me at 08:00 this morning - bagged one! Nice one too. Too bad my phone is a foggy-pic-taking POS. I'll see if I can get some pics of it tomorrow.

Made a 300 yard shot across the valley into a field. Of course, the buck took off full speed DOWN the damn hill. Could've been worse though - there's briars in there so thick they'd take your eyes out 6" into them - at least it didn't dart RIGHT! 3 of us had a hell of a time dragging it up the greasy, snow-covered 45° slope. Luckily I was able to get my truck on an old foundation up there for traction, then toss the rope off the "cliff" to my neighbor, once we dragged it within striking distance. Sure is much easier dragging a deer with a pickup ...

Couldn't use the Polaris. 1st day of shotgun means "game-warden central". I've paid enough taxes this year. The Polaris shall remain in the undisclosed location ... ;)

Ok going out again saturday morning, same place and same time..EARLY before the rooster crows. Need a flashlight to find way in. Saw several does and bucks tuesday morning, no clean shots. I will sit a bit further away from RR track bed, up in woods more, direction the deer went the other day. Good thing about saturday... I got me a doe tag.. if its brown its going down. Hope its the 6-8 pointer... last chance I got to hunt this season. There seems to not be much pressure in local vicinity so hopefully they will still be not so spooked.
