Maybe it's me over reacting but I hear zone 1 circulator pump humming noise in pipes. I'm not sure if it always did it but recently I've been going to bed later. ( quiet house ;) my relaxes time. ) Circulator is a Taco 007-BF3-IW , now I want to be prepare if it does take a crap, can't find this model online. What model is needed to replace it, without causing different piping? Plumbing isn't one of my strong points.

randy,

probably taco 007 f5 will work. when you go to buy one ask to have the old number cross referenced. If its the same height itll most likely work.

Some 007's seem quieter than other.... I've got one that's been noisy for 15 years now. It's not loud, but it's louder then the other ones I have.

Last I knew, size wise, any 007 will replace any other 007.

Smack it with a hammer a few times. The orientation is important.

When replacing Taco pumps make sure you note whether the pump or housing it bolts to is threaded. They make them both ways, just make sure the one you get matches whatchu got! :)

 Does the pump come equipped with an 'X' that marks the impact spot?

Randy,

For 80 bucks you can buy one and have it on the shelf ,so when the thing no longer responds to said "hammer" you can wrench it in and be on with your day. Or nights sleep ,as Ive found that they wait till after midnight to check out :D

Wiz, you can get the IFC (internal flow check) models of 007's for about the same money, also. One other thought, if you have a 'shelf unit, check it to make sure it works. Many that sit a long time get a stuck rotor and if you are not clever enough to check for free spin, you will be pissed at having to take it off to free up the rotor with a long screwdriver to just turn the rotor. By the way, I have NEVER seen any circs that had threaded parts....never. 5/8" and 11/16" open ends, or similar.....new gaskets....anti seize on the bolts(makes a smile 15 years later when you replace the circ or a leaking gasket.
In case you have not used Grundfos circs, they wire up in a very compact and neat way with no wire nuts required......it AIN"T rocket science, TACO. Same with zone valves, etc,

grundfos 3 speed w/check valve best pump for your money. will bolt right in to same spot as taco. on a taco you can cheat possible on install, buy whole pump and only do rotor/stator change [cartridge] shut off water and electric, remove 4-5/16 screws pull motor housing[stator] swap cartridge, re in stall screws turn water an elec on. have a victory beer. ps taco use to offer a catridge only then the prices were about the same as a complete pump.
