Cooling Aqua-Stat Recommendation- ?
My VF3000 boiler is plump into a 180k BTU furnace plenum heat exchanger and as such the boiler temp drops pretty rapidly until enough time has surpassed to get a full grate fire going. Someone on here once mentioned the idea of putting an aquastat in place that would turn the furnace fan off until the boiler had time to recover. Now that my electric generation is going from .08 to .12 per Kwh I want to try this out. Can anyone recommend a bolt on type stat that could accomplish this? I would put it on the supply line feeding the plenum, boiler is in detached shed and I'd rather avoid the hassle of getting another wire out to it.

Would an ordinary fan and limit control used for furnaces, installed into the plenum work? It should keep the fan off until the temperature was up.

Take a look at Ranco ETC-111000, it may fit your needs . They are about $45 on ebay. Can be wired for 120 or 240v. It can be used for cooling and heat .

Nice strap-on there Sting.
When I tried this, I didn't think it would work very well. As it turns out it works very well.
If you do happen to have a spare fan/blower control switch. You can place it between the headers of the heat exchanger. Then put insulation over it. This will turn the blower ON a few minutes after hot water is pumped to it. When the water temp drops below the setpoint, the fan turns OFF. This alows the boiler to catch up.
Please excuse the scary wiring. That was just for proof of concept.
This may only make sense if you have a fan/ blower switch laying around. Then you wouldn't have to buy anything. I think the strap on aquastat is ment for this aplication.

A snap disc, close on rise should work $10.
Put it in a small box for wiring.
Should be able to get a new/used Honeywell cheap on Ebay.

You could also wire the blower through a strap on aquastat mounted on the supply piping (close to the coil). That way the blower starts after everything is up to temp, and shuts down if the boiler needs time to recover. Most hot water modines I've seen are setup this way.

The convector will still scrub energy, just as a radiator in a room only better as the phenom will act as a accelerator for gravity air flow
Stop the Pumping!!!
The air scorcher should not be blowing if the convector is cold anyway

If you stop the circulation, how does the now hot water get to the new aquastat to enable circulation again ? This must require being mounted on the main supply, close to the boiler to allow the natural flow of heated water to rise slowly from the boiler?
Edit: seems to me the location of the stat that shuts off circulation would need to be in the boiler, in order for that to work properly.

The aquastat intended to prevent too-cold boiler temperatures must be mounted on (or close) to the boiler. The aquastat (or other means) to prevent the air handler from blowing cold air must be located on (or close) to the heat exchanger.
