used two ton as of Friday evening. Happy happy
4280 lb as of this morning. Took advantage of the warmer weather today and reloaded all my 5 gal buckets. I have 46 buckets full right now, hopefully that means I'm done shoveling til the end of the season. Should put me right about 3 tons use for the season, with 1 ton left for next year.

Well I guess this depends on your definition of "so far".
If it is since I lit up, it would be around 8 tons or so. If you mean "this heating season", then I would say around 2.5 -3 tons.

Ive burned just about 2.5tons since Nov15. in my MKIII. Its the primary source of heat for 2,900sf @ 68-71*. Other heat is HWBB from oil fired EFM. Ive burned about 60gal of #2 heating DW and have not used the baseboard. I have a feeling I will be about 1-1.5ton short for the year and will need to pick up some bagged to fill the void. I am strongly considering installing a coal boiler this summer after my inaugural season with coal. The coal heat has been great.

Holy cow I have chomped through the coal past couple weeks. I can say ive chewed about 3 to 3.25 tons since september. When temps are hanging even in the low 20's I just sip but man when its -2 with 30mph winds im burning easily 2 5gallon pails worth a day. Still much less than when I was using my handfired. No complaints here

After this week, my little 513 will have melted 2 tons of black pea. And that's a little unusual at the point of the winter where we are now. Normally the T-stat is set 1-1,1/2. But these past couple weeks have been "abby normal", so we've been cranking it to 2 1/2 -3 at times. So the 40lbs a day is now a bit over that. Maybe 50-55lbs. Not sure how much more coal I want to buy, seeing we're getting close to March. Still waiting for our January thaw. My gutters are stacked with ice dams that'll hold back the Ct river.

The more you buy now, the less you might need to buy later. It'll keep over the summer. The way things are looking though, the fireworks displays on July 4th just may melt your ice damsjoeq wrote:After this week, my little 513 will have melted 2 tons of black pea. Yeah, it kinda is SnotZ. The way I look at it is, if I wasn't burning coal, I'ld've already had my oil tank filled twice, (at a cost of maybe 1K, at todays "cheap" prices), and the house temp would be around 65*. It's much nicer spending 1/2 that, and having the house at 70*.Snotzalot wrote:I'm working on my 4th ton and the average winter I go through 3 to 3 1/2.
Fun eh?
