Ive been running a Tarm HS coal boiler for years that I bought used. Its a good boiler in a big house. But, it barely keeps up on really cold days. I have the house zoned, and take the load off of the boiler with a nice old base burner, that I truly love ( don't tell the wife). My problem is that I want a new, bigger, boiler and they just don't seem to make em. Ive searched the web, and this forum, but there doesnt seem to be anything out there. Any suggestions??

- Stoker Coal Boiler: Axeman Anderson 260M

I would go with a stoker boiler, new or used. Some details will be needed here. The BTU output of the TARM and how big is the house would be a good start.

Thinking outside the box..What about keeping the Tarm and add along side a auxillary boiler for those times when the Tarm cannot keep up

Harry WANTS a new, bigger, boiler & is looking for suggestions as too who makes a bigger unit.Leisure Line advertises on here & has a capable boiler,EFM has a capable boiler, Keystoker is another, maybe a few others as well. The decision as too which one will be influenced by the size of the undersized current unit & sq.footage,DHW,etc.Harry-Tuttle wrote: My problem is that I want a new, bigger, boiler and they just don't seem to make em. The TARM has two issues. It is having trouble keeping up and it is hand fired. Sell it and get a stoker sounds like the smart plan to me.

What is the BTU rating of the Tarm?Harry-Tuttle wrote:My problem is that I want a new, bigger, boiler and they just don't seem to make em.
How much coal do you burn per day in the Tarm AND the baseburner?
Would you like the convenience of a stoker? The circulators need electricity anyway.

You indicate it is a Tarm Solo. Which model of Solo? If you decide to sell it I might be interested.
This is the brochure for the Tarm Solo: http://woodboilers.com/images/stories/documents/m ... ochure.pdf
My Tarm is doing fine but it is a 1980, and I'm assuming it won't last forever.
