Hello All,
I just paid $228 a ton for bulk Blaschak rice at Fieg Brothers in Berlin [Somerset County] Pa. That's picked up there, and $8 more than last year.
Fyi: I have tried both rice and buck at another place near Berlin. I'll be nice, and just say that I will not be trying the other place again.

Blaschak rice $6/bag ~ 40lb. bags comes out to about $300 a ton.
They said they'd deliver 2 tons for $560.

Hey Bud63
How was the experience at the Lehigh indoor center I may have to look for a trailer next year so I can get my own coal. I paid $286.00/ton of delivered to Phillipsburg NJ from a supplier in Easton Pa. 15 miles delivery to my house. I paid the toll of $6.50 that wasn't included in the price. I understand that.
Then I have to get it in the basement with another auger . Just don't know what to do at this time. Oil prices @$2.20 / gal may have to use oil

Looks clean. Did they let you cherry pick it yourself to avoid the smaller chunks, crumbs, and on down to fines?Ky Speedracer wrote:Eastern KY bit lump coal. $180 a ton. Just Picked up a ton today.

The guy I get it from will let you hand pick the big stuff that you want and then takes a great big pitch fork and scoops in the rest. Anything smaller than a golf ball or maybe just a little bigger never makes into the trailer.lsayre wrote:Looks clean. He has a nice setup. It's on an old grain farm and has a truck scale. Weigh in, weigh out. He's about 60 miles north east of Louisville KY just off of I-71. He drives to eastern Ky once or twice a week, picks up a load and then brings it back and sells it. I've been told that I can pick it up myself for less than $100 a ton. But that's a 3 hour drive for me. I can get to this guys house in 30 minutes. For me, that's a deal.

So what are you doing, breaking it up with a sledge/ hammer, or dropping a lump on and watching it burn for days? Curious how much you lose to shatter if you're breaking it.Ky Speedracer wrote:Eastern KY bit lump coal. $180 a ton. Just Picked up a ton today.

I was quoted 295 a ton for bulk and 315 for bagged. That's here in Mass.

No need to break it up. I just lay 1 or 2 of those big pieces on a hot bed of coals, give it some primary and secondary air for about 20 minutes and then close her down. One of those big pieces will last 12 to 16 hours. It will keep the house in the mid to upper seventies.KingCoal918 wrote: So what are you doing, breaking it up with a sledge/ hammer, or dropping a lump on and watching it burn for days? I paid 280/ton for Pea this week (delivered)
I think it is a little less for pickup, and summer price is 240/ton.
I am on the edge of Coal burning county and there are few places to buy coal. This might be why I am on the higher price range.

Last Friday, Reading Buckwheat Anthracite from Harper & Gallo in Ebensburg, PA.
$215/tn + $30 delivery (depends on distance) and the older fellow shovels off whatever I can't beat him to
This last time he shoveled into the coal bin while I filled buckets and hauled in and dumped into the hopper. In no time at all my hopper was full and the bin had the remainder of the ton.
