So I went and got 2500lbs of Nut Anthracite from Woodstoves Unlimted last Saturday. I am not getting around to unloading it from my truck. On the lot all pallets/skids are wrapped with either blue or black plastic so I had no idea that I wasn't buying blashak Nut .

It turns out it's Kimmel's Nut Anthracite and it's in those shitty woven bags that fall apart in sunlight ... I leave this stuff out year round and these type of bags don't hold up in my experience .

I know nothing of this Kimmel's ... Never researched it or cared to buy anything other than Blashak and I paid the same price for this stuff ... Blashak comes in the poly plastic bags which last forever and it burns really well.

So tell me is this stuff rubbish ? Have I been dooped?

It also comes in 50lb bags verses the 40lb blashak and they never once mentioned I wasn't buying Blashak . I've heard this is some tractor supply crap?

Blashak is still listed as what they sell on their website ... So I had no reason to ask what I was buying . http://www.woodstovesunlimited.com/

Im just furious about the fact they sold me this ... There is another supplier similar distance that I believe I will be using next time . I don't like being crossed .

It's a 4+ hour round trip drive in the annoying part of Northern VA ... And in my F250 with a Gasoline V8 getting 12mpg it's not the most ideal condition . Now if they paid for my fuel and refunded me and provided me with the Blashak coal it's a possibility .

I guess my real concern is the quality of this stuff . I'm already pissed about the packaging ... They don't tear open either so I guess I'll have to cut them open. I know that sounds frivolous but in the morning I'm a late sleeper and ripping off the top of a Blashak coal bag and dumping it into two hods is easy and fast . I'm reading mixed reviews on Kimmel . I hear good and bad . Ive only heard good even burns from Blashak . I've been burning it three winters now and it's always the same. It's the kind of mad that makes you want to reach out and choke , punch or knee someone to the face .

I'm sure I will calm down , maybe. But for now I need to boil.

Most people think it is a good product. I suggest you have a cold beer and start burning it.

Burn a bag and see what happens. You just might save yourself from a stroke.

I did not like the 10 bags of stove I burned last year.

It was so bad I will NEVER spend my hard earned dollar on K's again.

I think I'd burn oil if that were the case.

Maybe this year it's from a different mine, folks seem to like it.

As said, light some up and see.

I bought 10 bags of the Tractor Supply Kimmels stuff. I should have bought a whole pallet if they had it available.

Not sure where it got a bad reputation but I didn't have a lick of trouble with it.

I doubt you'll be disappointed with coal, I know those bags really suck though.

Burn some up and see how it is. Too close to X-mas to raise your blood pressure. Let us know how it burns. That stove you have there should be able to handle any coal.

Decent compared to what other brands?

I just really hope it's as good or better because I paid more for it this year than I pay for Blashak . Of course I got an extra 100Lbs because of the 50lbs bags vs 40lbs

Just knifed open a bag , I don't know the de-stitching trick, if there is one . So far it looks like a bunch of little broken pieces of Nut... You know the stuff to fall right through my grates and let me know I've wasted some of my money every time I go to dump the ash and see un burnt coal.

I'm not seeing a good consistency in the first bag . Big pieces and really little pieces but mostly broken pieces of nut ...

Decent compared to Blaschak. I am comparing 35 bags burnt and bought from Tractor Supply. Blaschak also has a lot of pea in it. The lot you have may be different. There are several long threads on it.

The stitching is not normal. Sometimes the chain stitch pulls out easily but most times not. I have given up and just cut the stitching.

Yea so far it's really up and down . I've been reading the threads . I don't mind switching coal but based on my research and findings not it being forced on me .

After this load of Blashak in the stove I will see how this Kimmel burns . If I'm not happy with it tomorrow I may just drive the crap back. Piece of mind does matter more to me than money . Sometimes lol. I guess everyone has their price .

But I don't want to be too premature about writing it off yet . I really do wish for the best .

I've never had pea in my Blashak bags . Always been consistent for the past 3 years . Not sure what makes what different . I've heard bad things about it too but experience goes much farther in decision making .

Another little note on the Kimmel vs Blashak I'm already seeing . The Kimmel was soaking wet my Blashak bag wasn't and they have both been sitting in the rain this week. Not that it really matters all that much but thought I would share .
