Gonna guess the odds of finding them on the used market are rather slim. The price for new ones isn't gonna be cheap. Just change the oil and keep an eye on them and they should last a few lifetimes.

No replacement gear reduction boxes available at any price, however the new style gear motor kit is about 570.00 +, however the parts to rebuild the shaft bearing housing are available. Do not discard the idea of a gear-motor replacement, it is a VERY NICE kit. The gearbox can be rebuilt also, and for short money. Seems there is a link on the forum for a few who have done it. Good luck!

With changing from the twisted belt and gearbox over to the addition motor/gearbox for auger/ashing operation there will be no need of the solenoid parts anymore, as the Anthrastat or PID stops//starts the new gearmotor directly that drives auger/ashing now.

So you are saying if it doesn't need to ash, it won't feed coal either? Mine ashes 95% of the time anyway. Gonna start saving up for the motor, nice to have extras on the shelf.

You are correct, no ashing cycle means no auger turning...but remember there is a decent standing column of raw coal in the transfer head to take care of any fire pot volume settling.mozz wrote:So you are saying if it doesn't need to ash, it won't feed coal either? I must say, it is strange to hear the boiler firing with the fan only and to not have that tumbling coal sound for the time before the call to start the ashing.

The housing the fan shaft runs through is a bushing box, no gears. About $5 worth of bushings and it is new. For the auger drive, make sure it has oil and the chain and belts aren't tight and it should last longer than you.
